The IRA contained a massive tax credit for clean-energy. By Election Day, this policy, alongside other, smaller Biden-era programs, had driven $185 billion in announced private investment into factories that make solar panels, batteries, and electric vehicles, among other clean technologies.

ICE has now spent over $2.2 BILLION on purchasing 4 private prisons from CoreCivic, with the company banking half a billion dollars on the most recent sale. Of course, ICE will not actually operate these facilities; CoreCivic keeps the contracts to run these places for the foreseeable future.

These purpose-built facilities were specifically designed to care for individuals in a secure environment. After federal and state income taxes of approximately $182.2 million and transaction costs, the Company anticipates its net proceeds from these asset sales to be approximately $522.5 million.
