1/2 of the civil rights complaints buried in the past month relate to disability.
Out of the 12,000 civil rights complaints the Education Department has put on hold since Trump took office: • 6,000 relate to mistreatment of disabled students • 1,000 are specific to sexual harassment/violence • 3,200 pertain to racial discrimination
Department of Education FAFSA changes are open for public comment. The changes include requiring trans students to misgender themselves and removes the nonbinary option on forms. Note: comment period is 60 days, and comments are publicly visible. Form here: www.federalregister.gov/documents/20...
Something American ECR academics might be interested to know is that NSERC and SSHRC just raised their post-doc stipend to $70k last year, so if, I dunno, a dictatorial monkey were to turn off your funding and you were looking for other postdoc options, look north. www.sshrc-crsh.gc.ca

I've been saying this!!! You can still use google and train yourself to type "-ai" and not hurt the planet!!!
🚨 You can put “-ai” after any Google search you do, which removes all AI-generated results. 🚨
What is the one idea or conversation from #sblaar24 you can’t stop thinking about?
Definitely going to miss Rev Dr Lauren bringing it back to Luther. “You know who did that first? Luther!”
I look forward to attending #aarsbl all year. And while it is demanding and can drain you of all the life energy you have, nothing compares to the feeling it gives you of being with *your* people—
Wow, what a panel! Willie Jennings, Paul Jones, Natalia Marandiuc, Miriam Spies, and Amos Yong offered a really stimulating conversation on @lisadpowell.bsky.social’s The Disabled God Revisited.
I know I am a child of God because I simply was not built for chronos time
If you run into me at #AARSBL24, you might get a bookmark for SPIRIT HOUSE (www.crossroads-spirithouse.org) or a postcard with a 30% discount on my book, BLACK RELIGION IN THE MADHOUSE (nyupress.org/978147982978...). Maybe both.
Find it hard to believe this line up of dream scholars are responding to my book on Sunday at #SBLAAR. Their comments are starting to come in, and I need to get busy with my response. Willie Jennings is up first! Unreal.
post *perfect* album from the ‘90s that isn’t Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice and chains. Is this even hard?
Post a *perfect* album from the 90s that isn't Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, or Alice in Chains. (Hey Winnipeg, amirite?)
Describe yourself using 5 things probably in your backpack: 1) 4 pens, at least 2 of which have busted in a plane. 2) my journal which only gets an entry when I’m traveling so why is it in my bag? 3) a book I’ve been reading for 8 months 4) heart shaped rock my kids gave me 5) tide stain stick
Personality quiz: describe yourself using 5 things that are probably in your purse/backpack/whatever at any given moment! 1) Black Fellow Traveller travel mug 2) at least two books 3) pencil 4) pen 5) notebook
This year, the Women's Caucus has teamed up with the Women in Religion and Migration units to host events as we begin to hand off our sessions to official units. There will be six total sessions, including some training workshops and some brown bag lunches. We'd love to have you attend!
Absolutely stunning work being done by @lisadpowell.bsky.social at the intersection of the “I”, body, feminism, and disability while delivering a prophetic word to wake up! A great selection of papers; well done Lisa! 💕

Was so happy and grateful to read this thorough and engaged review of my recent book! I'm still a bit amazed when people I haven't yet met read my work, and especially when they seem to appreciate it. :-)
