There is a player on the LA Queens, Brittany Apgar, who has a limb difference and traveled back to Illinois from receiving her first ever batting prosthetic *today* and is 3-for-3 in her first game playing with one. Incredibly cool.

The whistle mercifully blows. Sounders lose their seventh straight, this one 3-0. They were really never in the game. Stefan Frei likely sets a club record with 16 saves. Sounders allow 40!!!! shots. Totally overmatched.

When I lived there, I went to Hiroshima. I was 12. I quickly understood in a way I hadn't before, why there were protestors outside the base on a semi-regular basis. It was a lot to process for the kid of a submarine nuclear reactor chief. I really do recommend going to see what is there.

At this instant in 1945 (8:15 AM August 6, local time), Little Boy—a 15-kiloton, uranium-fueled atomic bomb—destroyed Hiroshima, killing (per official US military estimates) ~70,000 men, women, and children, incl. 12 American POWs. Independent estimates later maintained ~140,000 people were killed.
