i know i'm a good writer because even though i don't want to make a new sample (i'm working on it slowly okay) i'd much rather bitch and moan and write a line a day instead of using chatgpt or any other word-stealing machine

I have a resource page on my website dedicated to open access materials and databases for independent scholars without an affiliation for library resources. There are many options out there for those of us without institutional access! (I have other resource pages too for various needs and groups!)

An extensive article that describes AI LLMs (and many of their myths) in greater detail, how they impact research (in archeology, but not only) and access to information. It was a timely read as someone about to share their dissertation on an open access platform

I made a second painting during the week, learning about tempera (acrylic layer), grisaille (drawing only the darkest areas first), then layering glazes (mixing oil paint with a medium and leaving each layer dry, to build up colors over time)

A photo of an oil painting in front of its subject, showing a red apple in front of a white vase with a bouquet on brown leaves, on top of a beige counter covered with a large green cloth and a light blue cloth, in front of dusty pink curtains

I wouldn’t be surprised if I needed 20 more hours to finish this (Just did an oil painting intensive workshop this week, using alla prima/wet-on-wet technique on this one) also now a lot of what digital painting tools do and why make a whole lot more sense to me

A photo of an oil painting on canvas in front of its real life subject, displaying a red apple in front of vase, on a table covered with a sheet of blue cloth on top of a green cloth, with a dusty pink curtain in the background.

Wherefore art the Junior Positions? I was asked this question, so here's a post. It's a complicated issue and this is a subjective answer. My thoughts, offered as an explanation of the industry, not a personal perspective of how things should work. Thread -

I am now OPEN TO WORK. I've been told I'm a pleasure to have in class, and also that I bring a kind of 'major freak who can also make you cry' energy to the writer's room. I can neither confirm nor deny that I was the reason we had to eventually make a 'No More Puns' rule on ZP.

Unfortunately, I've been informed that my job is one of those being made redundant in the layoffs at the studio today. This has been an insanely creative, talented, and kind group of people, and I am going to miss my friends terribly.
