Thanks in part to AOC, egg freezing is allll over the news these days. But what does it actually entail? Is it affordable? Painful? As part of COYOTE's First Aid Kit service journalism series, we're sharing this helpful guide from @19thnews.org on the science behind this fertility choice.

My innards are basically eating themselves right now (I'm in a severe amount of pain, especially standing), and I have to say it's really humiliating to ask for a seat on a subway and have no one offer to get up. People suck.

I hate to be at a bus rider forum in a breakout room with people who are clearly not regular bus riders.

American lives & institutions really are deeply shaped by identity-based prejudice and disadvantage, particularly regarding race and gender. The idea of a Black academic being hounded to death for alleged acts of plagiarism in an era when universities are entering into contracts with AI companies and encouraging AI use among students, while Big Tech is stealing EVERYTHING humans write...

I think 30 to 40 miles is a lot easier than it sounds, but also, 30 to 40 miles is where you start really needing to think about proactively snacking so you don't bonk. Eating before you're hungry and packing the right snacks and electrolyte drinks for that is its own skill and not obvious at all.

“Presumably though, you have some experience and confidence on a bicycle since you’re reading a blog post about how to go on trips that require you to bike 30 or 40 miles in a day.” I genuinely believe anyone can do this. thirty miles on a bike is the equivalent of a casual day hike.

amid all the "woke 1" discourse that really did not need to happen in the way it has, I recalled that last year I asked a bunch of organizers and thinkers to reflect on 2020 and the collective possibilities it laid bare for us, and not a one said it went too far
