The thing about Chery's shirt: it's not just a response to transphobes."Trans Kids Belong" is a significantly different stance than "protect trans kids." It side-steps transphobe's appropriation of "protect trans kids" & it's anti-adultist/non-paternalistic. It centers trans kids as trans kids.✊🏼
For non-WNBA watchers: The Minnesota Lynx are coached by Cheryl, and they are playing the Indiana Fever. The Fever have a transphobe on their team that has attracted a traveling circus of bigots, first to Portland, and now to Minnesota. Cheryl is doing what the WNBA as a corporation refuses to do.
