My prediction for how this will play out: Most colleges will doubledown on AI even as employers realize their graduates know next to nothing. Elite colleges will market themselves as being non-AI. Not using AI will be a bespoke luxury commodity that's highly sought after.

The Atlantic is contributing to the literacy crisis by endlessly posting moral panic clickbait that’s more interested in making a gratuitous number of references to the Ivy League, the canon, and how well read the author is than actually offering new or insightful commentary.

One of my hardest-won political lessons is that it’s never, ever worth it to treat ppl as ~indispensable no matter what they do~ —bc we *see* the contributions & potential of the abusive men & we don’t get to see that in the women they drive out. We never actually get to know what we’ve squandered
Marisa Kabas@marisakabas.bsky.social · 4w agothis dynamic described by jenny racicot is, as i understand it, very common among progressive women in maine. they’ve been put in an impossible position and feel like they’re tanking platner’s campaign when in reality he did that on his own by being a violent and reckless person.
there are very few jobs in the world where you can disappear for weeks without providing an explanation, and "member of congress" should not be one of them, imo

Julian Sanchez@normative.bsky.social · 4w agoThe most reliable thing in the world is that if you hear two stories about a guy behaving physically abusively toward women, there are five more you haven’t heard yet. People have patterns.
If roughing up a girlfriend and locking her in a room was a virile, authentic a rejection of “smoothgroined” “HR lady” politics, but a rape is too far, then what’s at stake is not a principled rejection of violence against women but a cynical assessment of how much violence a man can get away with.
