This is the highest-resolution view of the surface of the Sun. Ever. Taken by the NSF's Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope, features as small as 19 km across can be resolved. The wispy things are magnetic field boundaries formed by Kelvin-Helmholtz instabilities. The island of Ireland for scale.

I love scientific illustrations like this, they're so pretty. This one is from the first book,"Owady szkodniki lasow lisciastych" (Insect pests of deciduous forests) and it is of the species Cimbex femoratus. #entomology #insects #bugs #hymenoptera

Yesterday, I managed to buy three old Polish books. One is about insects specifically whilst the other two are about invertabrates in general. I'm really happy to have bought them! #entomology #insect #bug

Someone once told me that it's "classist" to advocate for people to have indoor cats because you need to buy them lots of expensive toys. Marcel has been playing with the discarded stem of a fresh green bean for 20 minutes. 🤷‍♀️

Lots of Hair, Lots of Legs. 7.25 x 7.25. 1979, marker on paper. Probably the oldest surviving thing I ever did haha. Another find from my mom’s belongings. She hung onto this quite a while, I was just barely over 3 years old. 1/2
