Bikes aren’t the reason why traffic is bad. Cars getting in the way of other cars are. The best way to reduce traffic is to give people other options to get around. That means bikes. And transit. And pedestrian-first streets.

utterly baffling to me that my macbook shows me a notification that i have a new update to install, but when you go to settings, it has to check for updates. and it takes like... minutes.

screenshot of the software update settings on a macbook. it is checking for updates.

This social wasp species, Protopolybia collombiana, had only been described for a year when I photographed it in Costa Rica in 2016, and I did not succeed in identifying it until yesterday.

Macro photograph of a grey and yellow vespid wasp standing on its paper nest in side view, holding a small larva in its mouth above an open cell. Macro photograph of a strangely geometric and flattened paper wasp nest in the shape of an irregular hexagon, on the bottom of a large tropical leaf.

This video, captured by 'beelightfulbees' on IG, shows a Bombus hypnorum, a 'tree bumblebee' napping on a flower, little toes tippy-tapping as it dreams. But do bees really dream and WHY? And how can we know that? Let's talk about 'memory reactivation' theory. (📷: beelightfulbees)

omg Diablo 3 has the same joke (i think unintentionally) as One Punch Man 1. amazingly designed bad guy drones on for many minutes about how he's the baddest mother 2. hero shoots the bad guy with a laser beam which instantly defeats him

in honor of Hayden Panettiere's passing, we put on Heroes last night, a show i completely missed. in episode 1 there's a solar eclipse, described as a "global event" and we see it taking place - apparently concurrently - in both NYC and Japan. sci-fi writers got away with everything in the 2000s

*ten hours into researching a new TV to buy* "oh thank god this one has good PQ EOTF tracking. don't even talk to me if your 600 nit tracking delta is over 0.0017."

If it looks like an Amazon delivery and drives like an Amazon delivery, then it's an Amazon delivery, right? Not according to Amazon. Big companies like Amazon have built a vast network of subcontractors who deliver their packages while shielding them from accountability.
