Rep Miller on TV talking @ his child's injury feels like when my abusive ex blamed me for our daughter's black eye—which happened *while he was home alone with her.* Anyway, my memoir SHE'S UNDER HERE is about what it took to escape. It's a good book and, alas, always timely. tinyurl.com/4v2kb6v7

The woman who made her family disappear: how Karen Palmer escaped her abusive husband

He had threatened her, locked her up and absconded with one of their daughters. Palmer knew she and her girls needed to escape – but it would involve huge risk and total reinvention

Getting real sick of slop midwives pleading for a 'respectful discussion' of AI as relates to the arts. Your use of AI to 'make art' is not respectful. It benefits from stolen art, destroys the planet, and does not make you an artist any more than someone driving 26.2 miles is a marathoner.

Then he added, "So there is literature that you enjoy and is meaningful to you. That's good. That's a start. Now what is it about the works of Ayn Rand that you enjoy so much?" "I dunno, really, there's just something about sexy vampires that really gets me involved in the story."

If you'd like something even more dangerous, our archive is so old that we don't use these fancy modern rolling stacks. Ours are attached to a motorised chain that runs the length of the room. This means sometimes they like to move by themselves just a little, enough to keep you on edge.

Rolling stacks in the archive with some lovely old archive boxes on them. On the right of the image you can see the handles that have to be pulled to move the stacks, activating the connection with the chain beneath the floor.

i don't like to police genre, but it's not dark academia unless somebody gets squished in one of these bad boys

those rolling stacks you'll find in any big state school library

𝗘𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀! Racists are the worst, so it's pretty entertaining to see them get skewered(figuratively). How evil is this woman to try to get a hardworking supermarket clerk who helped her deported! Explain the consequences of tearing people away from their families where needed. Invoke empathy.

Oh, don't sleep on this! I am sure there are five people on bsky in the US who would be utterly blessed to own a signed copy of *Becoming Altar*. Hit me up! I'm gonna keep making noise about this. (You can also contact me via kylahoubolt.us )

Good morning Bluesky ☀️ My grandad told me he saw the Titanic - from the outset he warned all the people that the ship would sink, but nobody listened to him. He knew he was right and didn't give up. He warned them again & again, until eventually they kicked him out of the cinema.
