When I was in 9th grade, my English teacher was the elderly sort of man who always wore a gray flannel suit and had a cigarette before class and a cigarette at the end of class every period.
I don’t have a degree. I have no formal training in rhetoric or theory. ICP should have gone with libraries instead of magnets.

(And as a former sulky Anne Rice-reading teen, I advocate for some over-the-top moodiness in the mix with realistic problem fiction and happier tales.)

I someone could convey to lonely young men who aren't full blown incel fascists yet that the current misogynist project is going to backfire and lead to more women staying single and living with parents forever. It's the rational choice when childbearing looks bleak and other options are limited.
This is why shutting these things isn't good enough. They must be completely dismantled.

Meaningful professional consequences for submitting AI-generated work riddled with errors would go a long way toward changing how people use it, even if only to make them more careful about checking the output.
OP is correct that using AI agents takes the human error out of historical research, but it replaces human error with something much worse.
