Katsu Curry for lunch at Dorinku Tokyo before I catch my last show of Edmonton Fringe. Love their curry here, it reminds me of ゴーゴーカレー (Go! Go! Curry) in Akihabara, near my old office. Just wish it was on their all day menu ‘coz getting here by 2pm is rough.

A plate of Japanese Katsu Curry with a thick brown curry, and juicy/crispy breaded pork cutlets over Japanese rice. There is shredded cabbage, pickles, and sweet tartar sauce arranged around the edges of the plate.

I was poking around Thriftbooks and discovered "Total Recall", apparently by Piers Anthony (Yeah, that piers Anthony. The Xanth guy). Thought there must be a mistake because Total Recall is based on a Philip K. Dick short story but no, this is the book, based on the movie, based on the short story.

Most times when the orange cat yawns near me I poke my finger in his mouth bc funny. Today he yawned right in my face and I blew in his moth. He immediately sneezed in my open mouth. Just in case you were wondering how we’re getting along over here.

Discomfort is an essential part of growth and wouldn’t it be so embarrassing to be the exact same person thirty years from now, in a totally different world, because you were so averse to discomfort?

Once you start noticing how the incapacity to handle discomfort affects how people live their lives it's actually pretty shocking how it ruins pretty much every conceivable aspect of existence. Interpersonal relationships, romantic and platonic. Career and education opportunities. Your politics Your willingness to go anywhere. The kind of food you eat. The kind of art you expose yourself to and your ability to read it. It's never just one thing, it touches everything, and once you notice it it's like suddenly being able to see germs or something. Just this horrific catastrophe people look at you askance for screaming about. As I grow older and see what became of my friends and peers who could not learn to handle discomfort, the more I'm like. This is a genuine societal issue

Increasing my discomfort tolerance has also been one of the greatest assets to improving my mental health.

Getting my live stage performance fix at Edmonton Fringe today. Caught “Colin Keeps it Fresh” with Blackground, Sketchy Broads “Resting Bitumen Face”, House of Hush’s “Between The Covers”, and about to finish my night with Gordon’s Big Bald Head.

I realize that this ending in Princess Maker: Children of Revelation is intended as a "Fail State" if you let your daughter loaf around at home too much, but I gotta say eating chips and reading books on a pile of soft pillows while cradling a giant chimichanga has a certain energy I can get behind.

One of the ending slides from the child-raising sim game Princess Maker: Children of Revelation, depicting the "Unemployed" end state that happens if the player opts to give their daughter too many rest days at home without any classes, jobs, or adventuring.

In the image, the player's daughter lays sprawled out in very casual clothing on a few large pillows. Her hair is messy and tied up in a bun. In one hand she holds a book that she is reading while listening to music from what looks like a Mini-Disc player via wired earphones. She has a potato chip in her mouth and an open bag of chips near her hip. In her other arm, she cradles a large dakimakura (or hugging pillow) that resembles a large sausage or a chimichanga.

if you are any kind of creative or artist or writer you *have* to understand sex workers and porn/erotica artists/authors as being members of the same class as us. to the extent society recognizes a difference between "legitimate" art and porn, it's only as a tenuous, convenient, temporary fiction.

In a marvelous confluence, my birthday directly overlaps Bandcamp Friday, so - in light of the continued enshittification of commercial streaming and how nobody is allowed to own anything anymore - I bought a couple albums on the day the money goes straight to the musicians. You should too!

The albums, from left to right, top to bottom, are "Visions" by Muthi, "Taiga" by Kubbi, "Fragments" by Bonobo, "eat ya veggies" by bbno$, "Dark All Da"y by GUNSHIP, and "Black Halo" by Hybrid.
