Quiet for birds on today's walk, but I had an amazing experience. I was sitting with the Ravens when a Buzzard called overhead. Chips flew up & they had an ariel battle. When the Buzzard left, Chips treated me to some acrobatics. How lucky I am to be so close to nature!
This interview about the has had 15,000+ views in the last few days. @georgemonbiot.bsky.social wrote an important column about the situation for ME/CFS patients, and I'm glad he found the time to talk with me about it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Maae...

The truly spectacular Martelli Annunciation from the church of San Lorenzo. This one is so good -- Mary's gesture, the pure flask of water in its special little niche, the back-up angels, the arches and the space. Wow, Filippo Lippi, A+.
Hastings Museum & Art Gallery will host a touring exhibition of Tapestry of Black Britons this autumn.
Indonesia is clearing 7M acres of West Papua's rainforest for farmland—and now they're hiding the data. Critics call it the largest active deforestation project in the world.

#OwlishMonday Not your usual classic owl but a charming contemporary perspective from Hiromi Nishizaka.
The Sunken Library from the story I’m working on. Also, this is entirely drawn with a dip pen and brushes and I’m very pleased with the results.
After the digital sculpt was complete, I cut it into parts to fit my printers. Done in zbrush. The head was split into 12 main parts, which were bolted together. Gaps between parts filled. The cuts were made to follow the outline of the scales to reduce visibility of the seams.
Proud to present my lifesize T. rex head, affectionately named Hannibal. I created this myself from start to finish- digital sculpture, resin 3D printing, painting, etc. Huge thanks to my friend @rj-palmer.com for instrumental crits and redlines during the sculpting process.
We mandate seatbelts to save lives. We mandate education to build futures. Why don't we mandate forest restoration to save the planet? Bare land should be illegal when we have the seeds to heal it.
Imagine this scale of layoffs in any other sector. But education and the arts? Nobody gives a shit.
'The University of Nottingham has confirmed that it will close its music and languages departments as it presses ahead with more than 500 job cuts despite widespread opposition from staff and students.' A blight on East Midlands and UK higher education.

This is how we should see these magnificant animals, not hauled up on a boat or in fillets on a slab. We should no more catch or kill this rare and stunning megafauna than we should trap or kill tigers or whales. Here are some more of Rupert’s photos from yesterday, with his kind permission.
Morning from a very starry Marbury! If you are up look at the sky as Jupiter is just by the moon. The Barn Owls are screeching and the Tawny Owls are calling to one another. It is a perfect morning. Have a wonderful day 😊🤗
Managing this - the effect the furious grief about the loss of your old life, the restriction and social isolation #mecfs has on your MH - is a job in itself in the first few years. Took me about 7 years to get to a non-dangerous-to-myself place with it. There's no help from the #nhs.
🧵 Ultimately, fatigue in ME/CFS shrinks lives so severely it often takes a devastating toll on mental health. This impact is unsurprising given the immense loss of careers, relationships, hobbies, & independence. tinyurl.com/fatigueimpac... #mecfs #pwME #cfs #fatigue #ChronicFatigueSyndrome 1/

Today (5th October) is the anniversary of my starting work with the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England in 1981. The beginning of a career drawing old stuff. Although 'retired' I am still drawing old stuff... At a different pace and mostly for fun. #ArchitecturalIllustration
