The most shocking aspect of @globalnews.ca interview with Toronto Fire Chief Jessop is that the Federal @mark-carney.bsky.social govt has no requirement for Lithium-ion batteries for e-bikes etc to meet any standard eg UCL or CSA. Any poorly made Li-ion battery can be bought on Amazon/eBay. #cdnpoli

If it makes you feel better, every case I've ever found where children wound up trapped in a survival situation, they banded together and helped each other to survive. There are cases of groups of schoolchildren surviving for years on their own. I based a book on that notion.

Lloyd Robertson has died. Born in 1934 in Stratford, he was one of Canada's most celebrated journalists. He was the anchor of CTV's national nightly news from 1984 to 2011. He was also one of the longest-serving news anchors on English-language North American television. 📸 CTV
I was looking for CO2 levels at 8C global warming when I came across this 2019 article. Don’t know why search didn’t bring it up in my #novel research. 🙄 Anyway reinforces my belief we’re underestimating #ClimateChange. Every system has a tipping point. #Writing #SFF jeejeebhoy.ca/library/the-...
Extreme CO2 levels could trigger clouds ‘tipping point’ and 8C of global warming
If atmospheric CO2 levels exceed 1,200 parts per million (ppm), it could push the Earth’s climate over a “tipping point”, finds a new study. This would see clouds that shade large part of the oceans s...

Helps with allergies and smoke to. Also, people (men) don’t tell you to smile more😂 And if your seat mate is stinky, pop a peppermint in your mouth under the mask (old nurse trick)
If you haven't been masking, give it a try. What do you have to lose? Just wear one in crowds and on planes, trains, and buses. Find a style that fits, so you don't futz with it. You don't have to get sick all the time.
Dear 🇨🇦 As we saw with the Billy Bishop Airport in Toronto, this government actually listens to the ppl. So now they want to know what you want from AI! So be loud & proud 🇨🇦 voice your concerns, instead of screaming at the sky.... fill in the survey! #BuyCanadian 🇨🇦 #BoycottUSA 🇺🇸/🇮🇱

The term I keep coming back to for this stuff is "Feedback Slop", because it's part of a vicious cycle in the creative ecosystem. Step 1: steal and copy everyone's work. Step 2: flood the web with generative crap (making it harder for human content to cut through the noise.) ....
I started getting followed by some "film festivals" and "writing festivals" and thought "oh, these are cool!" Then I looked a little closer. They're all part of a network that preys on writers, charging us for reviews, and feeding our stuff into slop generators. So I made a list.👋🏻🖕🏻😠

🛩️ v 🏖️ People who aren’t used to winning, won. At the same time, people who often win lost for once. The losers are throwing tantrums. Winners should take the win to heart because it truly belongs to them & no one else. My column on this remarkable grassroots mobilization in @thestar.com

The federal government’s decision to pause the Billy Bishop expansion means that people who often win lost for once — are taking it badly.

1. It's a fun action movie. A line that got cut but sums up some of my overall feelings: This Odyssey is not a rich, satisfying Homeric banquet, but sometimes in the heat, an ice-cold Philly water ice is all you want - even it's mostly sugar and food coloring, and makes no nutritional sense.
A friend sent me the NYT Cooking recipe for one-bowl Pound Cake, which uses cornmeal and yoghurt. Didn’t have either. Commenters suggested almond meal and chopped orange. Oooohhh. Made it. Soooo good. Crunchy crust, airy crumb, hits of orange and almond.

Electric motors have full torque from standstill. Electric trains (especially if actually overhead wires like GO should have) accelerate much faster than diesel trains because they have all the instantaneous power they need. One of the examples of where better for the environment is better for all.

💯! Outrageous that the province would expropriate city land. Just one thing after another with Ford from trees cut down at Osgoode Hall and Ontario Place to shuttering Ontario Science Centre to narrower part-above-ground subway to this. We need Charter City status. Where are we in that fight?
Bradford says he'll support Chow's motion demanding the Ford government give the land back. "This land belongs to the people of Toronto." "Torontonians must have a say in consequential decisions, and I think this council chamber is united in that."

And he didn’t seem to like the shortbread or ginger cookies, or any of the other fruits and vegetables available. However, he unscrewed the natural peanut butter and ate half of that. Laid the lid neatly beside the jar. And finished off his midnight feast with half a jug of sassafras iced tea.
