Edinburgh in summer. Where the choose is between waiting and extra five minutes for another bus, or walking along George IV Bridge. Dear Reader, I waited.

Away from the handsome parks and sporting facilities, much of #Glasgow Green 1910 is taken up by city factories and manufacturing, and our sampled street directory is thick with trades and diverse job descriptions – it’s very easy to lose yourself in such a list! #CommonwealthGames

As our introduction quotes ‘ #Glasgow made the Clyde, and the Clyde made Glasgow’, & it has to be said that there's an intimate feeling to the river as it caresses its way through the city. Once a steel-grey river, holding steel-grey ships, today’s Clyde is a greener, more relaxed beast.

um oh my god????? the sedevacantists of Orkney are doing a schism tomorrow??? “The order had previously faced accusations of abuse, bullying and psychological torture”???? one monk drowned and three others had to sneak away in a boat heist to escape??????? Jennifer what am I reading holy shit

BTW, @clairewillett.bsky.social, you might also want to keep an eye on Orkney tomorrow. The monks on Papa Stronsay are planning on consecrating their own bishop. www.thetablet.co.uk/news/monks-i...

Enjoyable day with FamilySearch launching their Commonwealth hub at Strathclyde Uni. Great networking with other FH societies and archives.

Our introduction gives an excellent and concise history of the area, noting how each significant institution was founded – and there are many on this map! We also include an extensive street directory, full of names and interesting occupations!

Kelvingrove Gallery is a heavy jewel in #Scotland’s overly bejewelled cultural crown, a shining light of interest & intrigue in a city awash with such fabulous attractions. Our Hillhead 1909 map couldn’t be filled with more fascinating buildings, stories & interest! We're Bowled over with this one!
