What I find most fun/funny about this is “you” (the supposed ghost) isn’t even in charge / alone in there. The you you think of as you is actually in community with the trillions of microbes living in you and on you, informing how you feel and what you think about all of this. We’re cities!

Every time I see a picture of her in "glam" it's never the outfits that are horrible but how she looks in them. You can tell she's so uncomfortable Kitten heels notwithstanding

Many of these people who were laid off will pivot to entirely different careers out of financial and professional necessity. And the people remaining will be a less diverse pool with a smaller capacity or inclination (if any at all) to train, help, and mentor colleagues and junior staff.

Operations management taught me the goal of greater efficiency and productivity after layoffs is often a setup for failure because of the reduced capacity for production, unless there is also a reduction in quality. There's also an incalculable loss of experience and expertise with all these layoffs

Everyone loses when there are fewer people from diverse backgrounds doing quality control and asking questions like, "how can bad actors use this new tech?" Or "how does this policy affect Black Americans?" or "Should we really lay off all the sports reporters right before the Olympics?"

It's one thing for most of the experience and knowledge I gained from writing and reporting on art for *three years* to just slowly leak out of my brain. But it's so much worse to think about all the gov folks laid off at USAID, NIH, FDA, and the EPA or the media folks at CBS and the Washington Post
