There seem to be many ways in which healthcare is nothing like traditional economic views of the consumption of typical consumer goods. The information asymmetry between providers and consumers is vast. Using healthcare is usually what the marketing industry describes as a ‘distress purchase’.
Of course, at the margins, the UK/NHS health system already has co-payments for prescriptions, dentistry and of course social care. I’m not certain that it is obvious these co-payments have driven innovation and improved standards.
Shingrix is not cheap privately - £500 for the two doses - but the evidence of its benefits is impressive and growing. Plus it protects you against shingles! Which is horrible. A great gift to yourself if you are 50+ & can afford it. I hope the NHS will start rolling it out younger.

It is absolutely meaningless for the UK government (or EU governments) to talk about regulating social media while continuing to ignore this stuff from Musk.

The wild thing about this is that, at root, this is every opinion in the UK. Me, my friends and family are real people and we should be treated with kindness and respect. Everyone else is a grifting fake taking money out of my pocket and using up resources that should be mine.

A smashing thread this. Another thing that often gets overlooked is that every penny that gets paid in benefits comes straight back into economy getting spent in shops and on services. Keeping people in jobs. Tax breaks for the rich, how much makes it back into UK economy? It won't be much
