Hello to my west shore. All you #Packers fans, #Brewers fans, & cheeseheads need to get out and vote in the Wisconsin primary next Tuesday August 11 for candidates that will protect the Great Lakes and work to fund the Knowles Nelson Stewardship Fund. Clean water is life! 🌊🌊

I got turned on today by the smell of rubber kitchen mats. Memory unlocked of working in the college cafeteria where I met this guy, also washing dishes. Steam rising off hoses rinsing food off plates & loading heavy racks into industrial machines. The way he offered to walk me home through

I love my friend who gets me out of the house at least twice a month to make sure I get out & have what I need, but sometimes she wears the shit out of me! The trip through the restaurant supply store today killed me. But, I got a wooden spoon for under $2. Did not leave with a 20 qt stockpot.

We rightfully talk about Ruby Bridges being the first Black child to integrate an all-white school in the South at 6-years-old. But we don’t talk nearly enough about Lucille Bridges, her mom ✨

I haven't said anything about the "she cooked dinner for him," & I know I posted this on my old account. Really, tip of the iceberg memory, or what I let myself go through. I'm not here to retraumatize ppl. I know what it is. All of it.

He sits slumped over the kitchen table,
a cup of coffee in his hand, grinning,
eyes bloodshot from the bender he's been on
while we've been at grandma's or
an old high school friend's house,
a weekend or week-long trip,
poorly planned, he talked her back from,
again, always promising, but we,
filing past, small suitcases in hand &
under watchful eye, know all lies.

Some things you only go through once before you learn. Like putting an extra dish pan under each side of the sink just in case something happens & you get a leak. It saves you cleaning up a bunch of dirty water & mopping the kitchen floor. Dish pans are cheap. Mopping up is BS.

Hammering out vintage fashion details for the next scene & I wish I had a couple of people closer who are on here to consult. I have an idea of where I am going with it, but I want to nail that plum two-piece church suit for her & I'm not. His navy one is easier.

Not in pain like I have been the last few days, so maybe will get to the edits I didn't yesterday & not sleep all day. But, first, breakfast. Whatever that looks like. Probably some dinner leftovers, cold, from the fridge.
