Here's the end-of-workday update, on Day 1 of the United States of Science. A whopping 57% of the map has been covered in the first 24 hours which is *amazing*. Thank you to everyone who filled bubbles! The top 5 states are still open: CA, NY, PA, NJ, FL Fill a few bubbles! givebutter.com/USS2025

a map of the USA with 2000 bubbles. The west coast is blue, the middle of the country is purple, the southeast is green and the northeast is Pink. Slightly over half of the bubbles are filled.

It’s that time again! Time for @skypeascientist.bsky.social’s 7th annual United States of Science Challenge! Each bubble on this map represents classrooms we marched w/scientists this year. $10 donations fill bubbles! The first region to fill in all of their bubbles wins! givebutter.com/USS2025

map of the United states titled "United States of Science 2025" with the skype a scientist logo and 2000 tiny empty circles spread out across the USA. States with low population numbers have fewer than where there are more people.

I am in downtown Los Angeles right now and it is completely surreal to hear that Trump is sending Marines here. We are listening to mariachi music. People have dogs. There are teenagers here. It is utterly and completely peaceful. Please tell your friends.

Attention: Musk’s staffers are now seeking access to a sensitive Medicare database as part of their crackdown on undocumented immigrants. DOGE was never about saving the U.S. money—it’s about building a government-run machine to weaponize personal data.
