Who will be the 1st cyclist to die on a Toronto street where a bike lane was torn out bc Ontario govt's "war on bikes"? Remember: the 2014 death of Mathilde Blais in Montreal spurred the development & implementation of the Montreal's REV gap-free protected-bike-lane-network on major artery streets.

At this point, anyone advocating for more fossil fuel infrastructure and extraction is just an evil person. There's no other word for it. It goes beyond greed, beyond ignorance. It's just plain evil. Crops are being cooked IN THE GROUND.

Never forget, a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users. ALL ROAD USERS. What about painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all. For sharrows, it’s actually safer to NOT have them. Via @usa.streetsblog.org @nyc.streetsblog.org

Separated Bike Lanes Means Safer Streets, Study Says — Streetsblog USA

Cities that build protected lanes for cyclists end up with safer roads for people on bikes and people in cars and on foot, a new study of 12 large metropolises revealed Wednesday.

I’ve been doing a daily collage lately — each one is made from some words and an image that feel right at that moment, chosen from a specific group of books/magazines (additionally, I’m trying to find a way to use every part of each bk/mag in the process — it’s a fun constraint!). Here are a few:

Collage in a wire-bound sketchbook of two similar photos of tumultuous water against a cloudy sky opposite each other, with 45 degree strips of black paper containing portions of white English and Japanese text overlaid on the photos and surrounding negative space. Bright Fluo red text scattered across the page says: “the lake calls to the sky”A sparse collage featuring a rocky beach and ocean in black and white, the far-off horizon made up of negative space. Within that space are words, angled across the page on red fluorescent paper like a poem in three lines: “lobs bombs / Goes home. Doesn’t respond.”A collage in a sketchbook of three more or less black and white images arranged in a vertical line. Spacewar is in the middle, surrounded by some console screenshots of (unrelated) code. The bright red text meandering across the page reads: “think of fields nearby but fences first”This collage is the most colourful of the four, featuring photos of trees, ground, night sky and lights, different moments in time of the same scene, rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise and overlaid in chunks vertically along the page. Bright text on red fluorescent paper urges: “Without direction in mind, Walk”
