Yeah, one of the most fustrating things about this whole thing is we have largely been very successful at integration and most of the public accept it! They have a civic view on nationality! Its the extreme trail wagging the dog

An extremely minor annoyance of the immigrant experience is when there’s a book in your home language which you real want to read but you don’t know when you’ll be home next, so instead you start wondering if reading it in translation will just be an exercise in frustratio.

I felt a large part of my remit as a BBC Radio Comedy Producer was to bring the next generation of UK writing talent (of any age). The steady attrition of BBC Radio Drama in recent times is an ominous sign that the BBC is losing sight of its essential mission. www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio...

BBC radio drama is in grave danger. Without it we may lose the next generation of writing talent

Hundreds of hours of original plays have been cut from the corporation’s programming in recent years. If the trend continues, a valuable training ground for writers will be lost

For no real reason, I have been thinking about how, if Eurovision had any guts whatsoever, they would (apart from the very obvious Israel-thing!) ban songs in English. There are already TOO MANY songs in English!

In recent weeks, there has been a remarkable surge in large, intense, fast-moving, and unfortunately in many cases destructive/deadly wildfires in multiple Northern Hemisphere regions spanning a wide range of climates & ecologies, but they all share one key commonality. [Thread]

Today is the feast of the Seven Sleepers of Ephesus. They were a group of Christians who sought refuge in a cave during the persecutions of Emperor Decius (c.250). There they fell asleep, & were discovered in the reign of Theodosius II (408-50), thus waking up in a Christian empire. (1/n)

this is such a good and astute way to put it; so much gender critical feminism seems to stem from the belief that being a woman is a uniquely awful thing, and I mean no one's arguing that living in a patriarchal society as a woman is always a riot but what a depressing and pessismistic view of life!

So I think deep down they *have to* assume trans women are acting malignly, because they can’t imagine wanting to be a woman, while there seems to be a tendency see trans men as either failing to understand that it’s normal to be miserable about being a woman - or as traitors letting the side down.

Set a vital precedent! #SynodVoteforNature What we CAN’T afford, is a devastated planet & the accelerating blinking out of species.

This Tuesday the @archbishopofcanterbury.org and the members of the @churchofengland.org’s internal parliament, The General Synod, have a massive choice to make that will affect all of us. Will they restore 30% of their land to nature by 2030? #SynodVoteForNature @chrisgpackham.bsky.social

Well done +Nick Chamberlain (Bishop of Grantham) for raising the point that the UK is becoming increasingly hostile to LGBTQ people and that we are backsliding badly. We need to move beyond polarisation, stop hiding behind process, and show compassion and solidarity. #GeneralSynod

For det meste har jeg fuld respekt for DRs 100 bedste danske sange liste - ikke fordi jeg altid er enig, men hey, jeg kan se argumentet - men Seven Years i top 25…come the fuck on, det er ikke engang den bedste Lukas Graham sang????

They don't It does PIP is not an out of work benefit. FFS, these people are about to ruin people's lives with absolutely no idea what they are talking about while they do it. Not to mention the complete lack of understanding about how needs change, which makes arguments like "mild ADHD" redundant

Labour MP: People with mild ADHD and anxiety should not get benefits
Sojan Joseph says the system must distinguish between conditions that prevent work and those that do not
