If you’re in LA we’re doing a set at Amoeba in about half an hour. Actually we are doing the set whether you’re in LA or not but you know what I mean
Loving this!
Now that the NZH no longer has Hooton, Thomas Coughlan has been unleashed on Luxon: "his past week has demonstrated just how poor a performer he can be, demonstrating to the National caucus and the country at large that there is no floor to Luxon’s political ineptitude" #nzpol
At some point, AI boosters are going to have to engage with the fact that the people who have most fully and prominently bought into this product are also the stupidest, most evil people on the planet.
The State Department said it takes "full responsibility" for "hastily" altering and then presenting a map of Africa at a global AIDS conference that mislabeled every single country it highlighted. An analysis by Reuters found a watermark in the map image that suggests it was made with OpenAI.

I honestly don’t know how anyone can be in the room when he says this kind of shit and not say ANYTHING. That’s not how you talk to people! Hit him with a rolled up newspaper or SOMETHING.
Trump says Jeanine Pirro "choked" and then snaps at a reporter who asks if her job is safe: "Don't ever talk again"
The attached blog post is really well done, and frequently grimly humorous.
This was incredibly long (blog post & thread, both), but a worthwhile read if you’re dealing with AI slop at work. Increasingly, I’m finding folks completely offloading their thinking to AI, generating documents & plans without any critical thought of their own. Universally, the work is nonsensical.
I am just a boy trying to construe a dative with παρά while surrounded by addled AI advocates.
"shall" is not a good translation here, as shall is simple future. "you 'should' have the body" is better and "It should be/must be the case that you have possession of your body" is wordier but best. #theissuematterstooofcourse
Corrected a mistranslation of habeas in habeas corpus. Probs will get a snippy reaction. It's not good for people to argue about something so important while thinking the Latin says something that it does not. The shades of meaning matter. Latin still does. But yeah don't teach it anymore.
Spurs had it won and then somebody "found" a whole bunch of Knicks points in the middle of the night.
I think it's time we had some articles about what rural Americans can do to regain MY trust.

I filled out a survey and took a question about 'supporting the group better' sincerely. Mistake! The leader is not happy with my gentle (really!) suggestion. #HowDidIForgetThisTruthEternalAbourRequestsForFeedback
Yep. THIS. Ai enthusiasts, lightweight frauds they are, cannot imagine.
I don’t know what to tell you, man. I’m a medieval historian, and, in my field, if you don’t check your sources (and your sources’ sources) you are just asking to be taken for a ride by some bored 19th C. aristocratic English antiquarian with a penchant for inventing history.

there's something perfect about people like this only caring about faux journalists attending a fancy elite party and not anyone experiencing violence while out doing the actual job of journalism
People here are being really shitty, including at fellow journalists who've been traumatized, and you will regret those posts. Or should. Also this does not help your political cause, whatever that might be.
