I worked on a few fairly prominent efforts in open source (Istio, OpenAPI), but I think of all of them, it’s gRPC that I think has the coolest story. Pull up a chair and set for a spell (any inaccuracies in what follows are 100% my fault for having a bad memory!).
I wasn’t much of a Tesla fan before, but our new house came with two Tesla products pre-installed. Both of these are kinda fucked due to intentional decisions made by Tesla to screw over customers. The EV charger will only charge Tesla EVs and the Powerwall essentially cannot ever be upgraded.
This is the equivalent of a large nuclear power plant in terms of 24/7 power. Except that a nuclear power plant has much lower availability than this solar/battery-combination. The combination also has like a million pages fewer compliance worries.
