If you use AI to write your story or your music, you’re a loser. I don’t have time for anything you’ve presented because you didn’t have time to actually work at being creative. If that makes me an asshole, I’ll be that. It’s not the first time I’ve been called an asshole, and it won’t be the last.

I am virulently anti-GenAI. From the very start of the plague I‘ve been against the use of it in any creative endeavours, and do my best not to then play games, read books, or watch anything that has any GenAI involvement (which does mean I’ve chosen not to play games I really wanted to).

I don’t care how respected you are as a person, science educator, author, artist, etc. If I find out that you are using generative AI in any aspect of your work, you lose all of my respect.

I talk about this every so often, and as the day is coming when the Lockwoods returns I thought now was a good time. So, I write. Once, before GenAI, I was a ghostwriter, which, honestly, was just a creativity drain, with my dream being to earn a living from my original fiction. #TheLockwoods

one thing I miss from the pre-genAI days is that there was no questioning that human nonsense was simply human nonsense. a dog piloting a plane? some silly human toiled over that in photoshop. now, when something is nonsensical, we question if it’s ai and don’t get to enjoy it the same way.

First… I am tired. Very very tired. We believe my partner’s grandmother has dementia, and the last week has been far longer than any has the right to be, especially as we don’t have the first assessment until the end of next week. It wasn’t until recently her ability to compensate for it failed.

You’re getting a sneak preview here at the new website for the Lockwoods. I’ve been thinking about doing this for a long time, for many reasons, and it now exists. There is just a countdown, but more will be coming in September.

Well, hi, Bluesky. I’m currently still without consistent Internet or my PC, so doing my best to work with what I have. At this point Tumblr is the easiest social media site for me to use, due to that, which means I’m posting there a little more. Not a lot, because life is hectic right now.

Still only have mobile Internet. It’s been a long few weeks, I feel so disconnected from everything I love, but I’ll keep my fingers crossed for broadband soon, because that’s currently not something I have control of.

I’m mostly on Tumblr right now, because I can actually see notifications there, but here it’s not working out so well (mobile Internet, as there have been some unexpected life changes, and that’s all we have right now).

Cringing at your old work isn't embarrassing, it's growth. I was listening to my 2023 album and there's one song I can barely get through now. It bugs me in ways I didn't notice before. That just means I've improved. You don't evolve without outgrowing old versions of yourself. #music #artists

I want to let everyone know @tsimmer12.bsky.social passed away. Her family doesn't have access to her Bluesky account so they asked someone to help share it on here and that's what I'm doing. I loved Tri dearly and I will always cherish the friendship I had with her. I will miss you Tri. 🫂

There is a wrong and misguided, but nevertheless deep subconscious belief i think most people have that if a creative work hasn't gotten much attention, it must not be very good. But everything has to start somewhere!

share posts with no likes. watch videos with no views. follow streamers with zero followers. comment on art with no engagement. make yourself blind to the numbers and just interact with the art as it is! i used to also judge things through its reception, but it made my world very very small

v1.121 is live! We've increased the quality of photos in posts by doubling the max file size to 2MB and the resolution limit to 4000x4000. Plus, posts with multiple photos now appear in a carousel so you can show off your photography in all its glory.

Using gAI for writing is bad. Using it for book cover art and promotional images is bad. Using it for your author photo is bad and stupid. You obviously have a photo of yourself that would work nicely for that purpose, so why not use that?

I do think tech companies are underestimating the amount of - new account fatigue - new app fatigue - useless upgrade fatigue - terms of service fatigue

If you wonder why the "Quiet Posters" feed doesn't work for you anymore, it is because the @why.bsky.team subscribed to an anti-anti-ai block list, rendering it useless for over 300 000 users. Good job bsky team!!

i wasn't using it but it is such unserious site things that access to the Quiet Posters feed, which is part of the functionality the site has advertised on official accounts just broke for 300k people because it runs out of the tech advisor's personal account and he's a thin skinned AI baby

One of the anti anti-GenAI lists I'm on (how has it come to this?) amused me by saying 'people who are scared of AI'. Here's the thing - I'm not scared of the plagiarism machine. I'm furiously angry with the people who created it, because they don't care about how their tech harms other people.

It's just fascinating to me how the Bluesky team keeps taking active steps to look bad. They don't just randomly step on rakes. They go into the shed, lift the rake off where it's hanging on the wall, carefully place it on the grass, and then step full force on that motherfucker.
