The job for every Trump official—especially agencies like DHS and DOJ—is make the president’s dystopian fantasies real. Applicants get the job by saying they totally will and the only reason it hasn’t happened yet is weakness. But the reason is reality, so it ends in frustration then cycles again.

Tales of everyday corruption. Pete Hegseth cancelled the $400,000 contract for making uniforms for the Blue Angels on the grounds that the contract with "The Sewing Box" was DEI since the firm is Black-owned. Instead, he awarded it to a Trump donor for $1,690,000, a 325% price increase!

The July jobs data are bad: 23,000 jobs lost. But also this: May was revised from +129,000 to +63,000--a reduction of 66,000 jobs. June was revised from +57,000 to 20,000--a reduction of 37,000 jobs. "Employment in May and June combined is 103,000 lower than previously reported."
I remember when they wouldn’t allow a member who just had a baby vote remotely but sure, let someone vote for a man who cannot or will not even speak publicly. What a disgrace.

Boozman of Arkansas is now voting for Mitch McConnell, claiming that McConnell talked to him and gave him permission to cast his vote. The photo on the article here is old, from before McConnell's crisis. No one's seen him. No reporters talked to him. But people are using his vote.

The president's authority as "commander in chief" refers to the military only. The president cannot use executive orders to expand the definition of who is eligible for birthright citizenship under the Fourteenth Amendment. The president's aide saying these things is a virulent white nationalist.

It's been almost two months since McConnell was last seen in public. He has refused to speak on camera to confirm his faculties, despite demand from Gov. Beshear.
Too bad he wasn't issued a tan suit with that new rug or someone might speak up about it.
