I cannot figure out if understanding programming no longer matters or matters more than ever. And the worst part is every response I might get to this will somehow make it more unclear.

Workshop day at Swift Rockies was incredible. My lab group had so many excellent questions. Food was exceptional too. Very ready to hear other people talk now. I would also like to share that walking alone, early morning through a totally empty zoo has very big Jurassic Park energy.

When it comes to my own motivation, the difference between even tiny amounts of progress and zero (or negative) is astronomical.

Whew some of the posts I write, think better of, and discard. I mean, good grief.

The deep divisions and conflict we're seeing right now will surely be limited to programming communities we have nothing to worry about

The whole thing is worth your time, but there's one part in particular (about 30m-35m) that I have been thinking about a lot. That 5 minute section discusses the differences between progressive disclosure and false simplifications. For a while now, I have been encountering AI-facilitated misunderstanding. But it is really starting to outpace my ability to help. This is a new nature of confusion. It requires different skills and I'm trying to get better at it.

Lots of confusion here between game jelly and jam. You spread and then consume game jam. Game jelly is an emotional response which happens when you wish you knew as much about game dev as someone else. You are no doubt experiencing that right now, but give yourself time everyone was a beginner once.
