Dev from Italy. I like AI and machine learning. And building on AT Protocol. Working on @currents.is and @juttu.app. Blog: matteomarjanovic.com
Anyone else building on atproto hit the 1000-blobs/day-per-IP limit on uploadBlob? It's shared across all your users if your backend proxies uploads, so a few bulk imports on @currents.is ate up the whole quota and blocked unrelated users from saving images
Thanks. Yes, that's what I was trying to say, but took too long to get there. Our politics community is strong, and I'd love for us to expand into new communities. Science and sports have already taken off. Birding, gardening, K-pop, we're open to all (except nazis and jerks).
I'd love to see more folks fill out the interest form for testing monetization features on Leaflet! I'm particularly excited to hear what y'all think about this part — ideas for going *beyond* the typical paid subs model
Piloting paid memberships for the open social web!
Lab Notes 035: building monetization features for Leaflet creators, starting with paid memberships — tell us if you'd like to be the first to try, and what else you need!

Leaflet is the new† Substack‡, you heard it here first folks! ✍️ 🍃 💸 †not just new — better — b/c no platform lock-in, great Bluesky integration…and now, monetization too! ‡actually even bigger than that; not just us but a whole open ecosystem replacing Substack! here if you have any q's!
i think a lot of people are thinking too small about atproto. you gotta think BIG 🐜
I've been looking for a Pinterest replacement for a while now. Tired of the ads, promoted Pins, AI-generated images, decreasing quality of search results. Just read about image clipper @currents.is in @tynanpurdy.com 's blog on @pckt.blog. Intrigued! Looking forward to trying.
Thank you @tynanpurdy.com for the great write up!
I couldn't describe @currents.is better! Thank you @tynanpurdy.com, I can't wait to read the next articles on your new blog :)
Currents.is, an image clipper
Like Pinterest, but enshittification-proof

I appreciate DHH's thoughts, but I disagree on where Europe's problems are, and from where I'm sitting it's not immigration. Thus I wrote a response to his post. dark.ronacher.eu/2026/7/17/li...
Europe Won’t Live By Deporting
A case for focusing on Europe’s actual problems.

I think it's time to create some atproto instances, people on HN really want them
Two big announcements: 1. I'm looking for my next job. 2. My website is now one of the most "Atmospheric" websites to date, going beyond just @standard.site to include @teal.fm, @anisota.net, custom lexicons, a status bar, data inspector, and more. If you want to work together, get in touch!
I’m looking for my next job — dame.is
Over the past 12 months I designed, built, and launched a dozen apps and experiences on the AT Protocol, including anisota.net, a calmer user interface for Bluesky, and Aturi, a toolkit for navigating...

coding everything by hand and never using AI within your development workflow is actually irresponsible at this point
people love the For You feed, and it shows in the numbers. it generates around 4% of post views inside feeds on Bluesky. that's amazing especially because it's operated by one dev, @spacecowboy17.bsky.social given its popularity, we've decided to give it a bump in visibility on the feeds page.
Go check that out and let me know how you like it!
We just launched "Organize mode", a smarter way to manage and search your visual references, plus a supporter tier to help fund development and unlock reserved features. Can't wait to hear what you think! :) Read more: currents.is/blog/organiz...
currents.is appears to be quietly building a pinterest-like platform on protocol. I just checked it out and I love the calming design sense.

This is so good! p.s. @currents.is is made in Europe too :)

Mobile apps are in the works 😬 But in the meantime, you can install Currents as a PWA to your home screen, and get a near-app experience already!
Modern AI resulted from research made also by many non-US scientists (Hinton, the French folks, Linnainmaa, many others). The pre-training corpus was produced worldwide with massive code contribution from Europe OSS. What is happening with frontier LLMs is unacceptable.
I'm implement GLM 5.2 in DwarfStart with support for 2bit and 4bit quants, SSD streaming, and so forth. With Metal it already works well. CUDA / ROCm work still to do.
PSA Anisota is no longer a Bluesky client, it is an Atmosphere client. You can publish directly to @grain.social + @leaflet.pub / @standard.site among many other things. You can also cast, craft, & share Spells. There's a new way to engage called Post Poetry. + alt text generation. So much more!
The wait is over... Anisota virginiensis is here! A big evolution in our experiment of what social media can be. • Spells • Post Poetry • Blended Feeds • Alt Text Generator • Post Adviser • Support for @standard.site, @grain.social, @teal.fm, @leaflet.pub • More... Enter the forest: anisota.net
Started a 7-part blog series, explaining ATproto to people outside the ecosystem. Part 1: Who actually owns your network? gui.do/post/atproto...
Who actually owns your network?
Every time I moved a community to a new platform, the exit cost members and history. Platforms come and go; the lock-in architecture underneath is why. Part of 'Apps as Views, Not Vaults': the things you make are yours; apps are just the viewers.

This would just be hilarious, if it wasn't that prominent European politicians are promoting this disaster of a project.
Cool move from Bluesky, I think such support from them boost the whole atmosphere ecosystem.

Until now you couldn't follow other users on Currents. Now you can, better late than never, i guess :)
You can now follow other users and import the people you follow on Bluesky to Currents. You can find this button on your own profile page. This is the very first step to make Currents an actual social app 😅
