Old IT guy up in Alaska trying to understand how we got here. OG Never Trumper.

And this cannot be stressed enough: They CHOSE not to. They had the resources, the authority to hold him in check. But it's party over country all day, every day. To rule over the ashes rather than act with honor and integrity, and be true to their constituents and their oaths and to Constitution.

Never forget: republicans not only sold their souls, they sold out the country, the rule of law and your freedom. It’s their job to rein him in. They chose not to.

Man, I’m old enough to remember the GOP freak out over Bill Clinton talking to Loretta Lynch for 5 minutes at an airport tarmac. How that was political interference, grounds for impeachment, ethically unacceptable, etc. Now? Literally confirming Trump’s personal lawyer to A.G. with zero shame.

Raw Story@rawstory.com · yesterday

The Senate Judiciary Committee voted Tuesday to advance Todd Blanche's nomination for attorney general, sending President Donald Trump's former personal attorney one step closer to permanently leading the Justice Department.

Please stop saying “lockdowns.” There were never true lockdowns in the US, and it fuels far right narratives to repeat this inaccurate statement. You can say closures, you can say restrictions, or better, you can say public health measures which saved many lives.

People still complain about “lockdowns” but we had none in the US. We had stay-at-home orders, where although businesses were closed, you could still go outside whenever you wanted. Other countries had far stricter rules, and yet have been much more accepting of them as they saved many more lives.

What a terrible thing to say, but i have mixed feelings about this. On one hand I don't want to see the most vulnerable of us get hurt. But on the other hand, if keep softening the blow of Trump and GOP decisions, it helps to get them elected over and over. Damned if do, damned if don't.

NEW: Donald Trump is trying to make health insurance more expensive, reduce access to coverage, and undermine protections under the Affordable Care Act. Massachusetts is already struggling with the rising cost of care. I'm suing to protect the affordable health care millions of Americans rely on.

In case it wasn't yet clear, Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth have no qualms about sacrificing your children in a stupid war in Iran. They don't care. They view your children as cannon fodder in service to Trump's narcissism and never-ending incompetence.

I wish more journalists would point out that Sen. McConnell and Rep. Tom Kean (missed 4 months of work) are/were essentially on paid sick & medical leave. The same employment protection they’ve spent their careers blocking other Americans from having.

1944 and we are engaged in a world war for the history of humanity. All the absurd statements from Trump, the on again off again ceasefire, the daily changes in course, the boondoggle of the Strait of Hormuz - they hang on every word as if Trump is Churchill reincarnated. It’s indescribably loony.

One of my more illuminating pastimes is listening to cons evangelical political talk radio as I’m driving around South Ga. It is a good way of keeping tabs on the craziness. Was just listening to a discussion of the Iran War. Y’all, it is *bizarre*. They take it 100% seriously, as if this is June

🚨 STATEMENT: Veterans For Responsible Leadership Rescinds Endorsement of Graham Platner, Calls for Him to Exit the Race 🚨 Veterans For Responsible Leadership is rescinding its endorsement of Graham Platner for U.S. Senate, effective immediately, following the credible sexual assault allegation

At this point, Trump has been played by pretty much every country in the Middle East, from Israel and Saudi to the UAE and Qatar, and now by Iran itself. He’s like a Baby Huey in a world of grownups. He makes Jimmy Carter look like a canny master of geopolitical maneuvering.

Nothing says ‘freedom’ like burning taxpayer money on dirt bikes at the White House for a billionaire’s birthday party. Bread’s expensive, rent’s worse, but sure, let’s fund a midlife crisis with fireworks and motocross. Peak empire decay. America is not a serious country.
