Ugh, coming up with titles for compositions can be so hard! Sometimes there's something external that's prompted a piece, in which case it can be easier. But when the piece is just "music about music" – yeeesh it's impossible. (And no, I absolutely cannot call this piece "dance and song"...)

My phone wallpaper pack has 60+ images and you can get it for only £5 (or more — any extra helps support my art!). Link in replies! ❤️‍🔥 "Beautifully crafted artwork... bought this collection in a heartbeat" ❤️‍🔥"I love seeing them appear when I pick up my phone"

Really saddened and shocked to hear of Andrew Clements' death. A wonderful critic, matchless on 20 and 21st century music, and a great colleague and friend to whom I owe an immense debt of gratitude for his role in giving me my own break as a critic. It's a huge loss. And he will be greatly missed.

RIP Jonathan Powell - a great pianist, highly original composer and Russian music specialist. What a tragic loss. We came up together, and both from the West Midlands. I have a fond memory of a Black Country real ale pub crawl with him in c.1997. Here’s his ‘Saturnine’ for ensemble:
