The top of the US govt abusing power with even trivial things *is* the story. Federal law enforcement warped around lies and assuaging one man’s hurt feelings. The cynical, above-it-all attitude of doesn’t matter, stop being hysterical, why not humor him for a bit is part of why we’re in this mess.

It was so trivial that the DC US Attny presented false evidence to a grand jury to indict an innocent man to please the President while they both lied about it.
Coming out as trans convinced me that both things are true because Republicans are stupid and cannot see basic connections between things. They can like every trans person they know, think trans people should be wiped out, and not understand how the trans people they know would be impacted by this.

This is a good example of the fear that ICE has engendered in so many. A man here completely legally with nothing (on paper) to fear from ICE took off running when they showed up at a gas station and was struck by a passing truck. Awful.

#StupidSuez@diplomatofnight.com · 3w agoIt is rarely ever framed in these terms but one thing I say often is that if Democratic leadership really wanted to defang one of the issues that has fueled the rise of the insurgent left, they could always moderate on Israel-Palestine and just adopt the median Democratic voter's view.
So yeah anyone thinking the Venezuela coup was about restoring democracy there or any legitimate legal claim is still an idiot

Necrocracy. Rule by the dead. We have members of Congress dropping dead in office, running while dying, signing bills while nearly comatose, vanishing for months at a time, and now a president who is "leaving instructions" for what to do if he passes.

ICE claims that Araujo drove into one of their SUVs with his van and then tried to run over an agent. There were no marks on the van and KHOU11's Jeremy Rogalski found surveillance footage showing ICE chasing Araujo and cutting him off. Renee Good all over again.
