Generative AI is not only fundamentally based on the rejection of consent, but also *standards*. Artists have been micromanaged and hounded over individual pixels, academics fighting to defend every minute detail of their thesis, etc, and then are tossed away in favor of the get shit wrong machine.

i think any discussion of getting into games needs to acknowledge the difference between pursuing game making as a craft vs game making as an industry
I think one thing that was amazing about Project Hail Mary is that it just felt great to watch a high budget film that hadn’t been garbled through the IP nostalgia extraction machine a dozen times
A study from Google Maps of somewhere in Alaska for #PleinAirpril I want to get to painting outside more this month but sometimes the weather disagrees with me
The reason Moby Dick is the most American novel ever written is because it is about a violent white man enacting a confusing revenge fantasy against a cheap source of oil.
But shall this crazed old man be tamely suffered to drag a whole ship’s company down to doom with him?
Does anyone else notice how many online space dedicated to hobbies have become intensely about consumerism? I want to hear how you’re using your journals/notebooks, not your massive collection of unused collector’s editions >:(
If you ask me about any of these games, it’ll probably trigger a 15 minute unskippable dialogue (especially Pentiment) my9games.com

Nice AI-image-generating tool, but it will never be as great an artist as Onfim, a child who lived in the Novgorod Republic in the mid-1200s and who scribbled these drawings and schoolwork writings on birch bark at the age of 6 or 7.

One thing you will never think after reading a great book or listening to a great album or seeing a great piece of art is, “I’m really glad this person remained cautious while they were making this and guarded against being perceived as weird.”
Rama Duwaji becoming the First Lady of NYC is a huge win for arty girls with french bob haircuts everywhere
Del Toro’s Frankenstein (In IMAX!) gets a big fat thumbs up from me. I have daydreamed about an adaptation of my favourite book this good and this visually stunning for so so long
Reading for pleasure has fallen by 40 percent since 2000. This is not progress. You should read because it's good for your brain, your soul. You should read because our freedoms will not long endure in a post-literate world. Most of all, you should read because it's fun.
I don’t care if it makes me a performative male… I love totes!!
3 day hiking trip in the Lake District. We hiked about 60km in total, which has been painful for the body but amazing for the soul. Safe to say my Southern mind struggles to comprehend peaks like these
I had such a lovely and busy time at Develop yesterday. Waking up today felt like returning from the dead, however

I don’t know what career can top the feeling of seeing the disparate part parts of a video game come together and become something alive and more than what one could have planned for. It’s like real life alchemy, every time
