National Night Out has become a minor holiday for us. I look forward to it every year. Shutting down the street might be my favorite part, but I’m also just really grateful to have great neighbors, and a beautiful Minnesota summer day to get together.

The allegations are bad, and so is City Council not being involved in hiring outside counsel.

The lack of transparency related to this matter to date is unacceptable. The City Council learned about these allegations and the hiring of the external investigators from the media.

My six year old is going to day camp this week. She’s been having a blast. As a former camper and camp counselor, it’s so heartwarming to see her love something I also loved. She comes home tired and happy every day singing camp songs and telling about new friends. Today they’re inside all day.

Again, I love so much about where we live and this time of year, not least of which is leaving our car in the garage all weekend because everything we want to do we can bus or walk to.

There’s so much to love about June in Minnesota. These long days in the North are the absolute best.

Not sure how I ended up on this list, but wow what a grift.

I suggested a sidewalk tea party to my kids given the inevitable spills, and they decided to make tea out of weeds while I pulled volunteer tree seedlings from our garden. I am so glad to be fully in spring, and so grateful pretending to drink my “tea” was acceptable to my six year old today.

I won an election within my union and hosted a birthday party for my kindergartener this weekend, and wowee it has been so wonderful and rewarding to talk to so many kind people, but also I am so tired. Really grateful to be in these communities.

The biggest story in the world right now is that the president of the United States is a demented old man who takes pleasure in torturing and killing people and is committing crimes with impunity. And yet most legacy media outlets are too cowardly to tell it like it is.

There's something deeply obscene and broken about the fact that Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth are bombing elementary schools in an illegal war of aggression, and there's still a sense among the opposition that it has to be explained in terms of gas prices in order to get American voters to care.

The cruelty is systemic, and every person contributing to the torture of our neighbors needs to be held accountable.

I have been actively involved in protest movements for 24 years. I have never seen anything approaching this scale. Minneapolis is not accepting what's happening here. ICE fucking murdered a woman for participating in this, and all that did is bring out more people, from more walks of life.

Local reporters understand that what's happening in the Twin Cities doesn't have much of a precedent. It's not a political response (pink hat protest), it's an existential one. It is actual resistance to a violent external threat that is ICE terrorizing neighbors and families.

I’ve started using the term “ethnic cleansing campaign” to describe the ICE occupation here in Minnesota. This is deliberate because the reality on the ground is that, at a given moment, any non-white person can be kidnapped by masked federal paramilitaries regardless of their constitutional rights.
