Also: a lot of decisions have been made about AI in ed by people who had not tried LLMs, did not understand how they work, were not in the classroom, did not really understand how students were likely to use them, and were driven by FOMO rather than by data/knowlege/understanding/learning.

I didn’t know what a chigger was so I did a websearch and as I was typing in ‘Kansas chiggers’ it did that thing where it didn’t offer autocomplete suggestions due to the question being naughty and I got a bit worried about how awful these bugs were going to be.
