Information addict. I promise you do not want to follow me. I will annoy you at 2am with my OCD information gathering.

NEW from me: I think this is the perfect time to use Rachel Maddow’s oft-repeated phrase - ‘watch what they do- not what they say.’ Ignore Ellison's PR pitch, but look at what's happening at CBS News including directing reporters to add “facts” that did not exist. open.substack.com/pub/jennifer...

David Ellison can’t be trusted with CNN

We've already seen how Ellison has wrecked CBS. Don't fall for his PR push on CNN.

As of last night, there are now *7* pastors, former pastors and seminarians who've become Democratic nominees running for Congress. Some have already won safe Dem seats, and several are in hotly contested races. In multiple cases, the GOP has attacked their faith. religionnews.com/2026/08/04/p...

'They're not real pastors': As clergy run as Democrats, Republicans question their faith

(RNS) — 'It's a sign that they are really scared they're gonna lose this seat,' the Rev. Sarah Trone Garriott, a Lutheran pastor running for Congress in Iowa, said. She is part of a wave of religious ...

North Korea is deploying ballistic missiles to attack Europeans. The missiles have bigger payloads, longer range, and are less accurate than the ballistic missiles the russian terrorist state uses. What are Europeans and Americans doing to stop North Korea? Absolutely nothing.

North Korea has begun deploying a 90-person missile unit with 6 launchers and 120 ballistic missiles to Russia's Voronezh region. Here's what it means ⬇️ 🧵 1/3

ICYMI last night, DHS is currently being fined every day for contempt of court until it coughs up the cell phone records of officers involved in immigration stops in L.A. last year that looked like racial profiling rather than reasonable cause. short thread -->

Fed. judge holds DHS in civil contempt of court for refusing "intentionally and not in good faith" to provide plaintiffs with phone images they intend to use to prove DHS was racially profiling people arrested in Los Angeles without reasonable suspicion. Order from July 28, unsealed today.

B. Defendants’ Noncompliance Is Intentional And Not In Good Faith. Having found that Defendants are in violation of the January 16 Forensic Imaging Order, the burden now shifts to Defendants to show that they were unable to comply. Affordable Media, 179 F.3d at 1239 (9th Cir. 1999). They fail to make that showing. Upon review of the parties’ submissions and counsel’s representations at the hearing, it does not appear that Defendants’ noncompliance is due to an inability to comply. Instead, the clear and convincing evidence shows that Defendants have acted intentionally and not in good faith.

The thing about tactical nukes is that we deployed them across Asia during the Cold War but withdrew them starting in the 70s (Japan/Okinawa, Taiwan, Philippines) because they were security/logistical/political headaches and basically made obsolete by sea and CONUS based forces.

The Defense Department’s policy chief is drafting a new U.S. nuclear strategy that emphasizes the possible use of shorter-range tactical weapons in case of a regional war with China or Russia, according to five people familiar with the plans. www.nbcnews.com/politics/nat...

In December 2015, before Trump won the presidency and chose Michael Flynn as his national security adviser, Flynn took a $45,000 fee for giving a speech in Moscow at an event for RT, a state-controlled Russian “news” outlet. Russian dictator Vladimir Putin sat beside him at the banquet. 2/4🧵

El-Sayed: We live in an era where we continue to see a few very small people try to define America as being as small as they are. We can't control the past 250 years. What we can do is build the next 250

The media's takeaway from an El-Sayed win is the same as it would have been from a Stevens win, and the same as it will be if El-Sayed wins the general, or if he loses it: everyone, no matter who they are, needs to take several steps to the right.

🚨BREAKING: Nearly a year after voting advocates launched a campaign to prevent a GOP gerrymander from taking effect in Missouri, Secretary of State Denny Hoskins officially blocked the citizen-initiated referendum on the new map from appearing on the ballot. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Missouri blocks anti-gerrymander referendum from November ballot in attempt to silence voters

Voter advocates are expected to immediately challenge the move and ask the courts to ensure that Missouri voters have the final say on the map.

A 60 Minutes probe into Epstein's banking, with Wyden already interviewed, vanished right after Sharyn Alfonsi got pushed out under Bari Weiss. Same editor who stalled the CECOT migrant story until Stephen Miller got a say. CBS keeps calling it timing. Sure looks like a pattern.

Depicting Jewish people with horns is a centuries-old, dehumanizing, antisemitic trope. Democratic Gov nominee Phil Weiser is outspoken about his mother’s birth in a Nazi concentration camp, his family members killed in the Holocaust, and the threat posed by antisemitism today.

🚢 A cargo ship was struck by an unknown projectile in the Strait of Hormuz early Tuesday, forcing the crew to abandon the vessel, with one seafarer missing, according to Reuters and UK Maritime Trade Operations.

The Liberia-flagged, Greek-operated bulk carrier Minoan Pioneer was hit while sailing northbound about 20 nautical miles northeast of Khasab, Oman. British maritime firm Vanguard Tech said the projectile struck the engine room, causing a blackout, and a fire broke out in the crew’s living quarters. “The crew are fighting the fire and require assistance, while the third engineer is reported missing,” Vanguard said.

No party has claimed the strike. It is the fourth maritime incident near Oman’s coast in five days, underscoring the danger to ships using the Omani side of the strait as Iran presses its control of the strait.
