Ok friends you know I wouldn't steer you wrong with a book recommendation. This is one of the most charming and yet still gripping books ever. I was thrilled the whole time but sometimes scared as well! Also the Chicago area references are PERFECTLY done.

GUYS THIS BOOK IS GREAT nerdy Egyptologist + ex-Spiritualist grifter solve a spooky haunting and fall in love. it’s so clever and witty and charming but it will also make you NEVER want to be alone in a museum at night. read it with the lights on

Sometimes there's also testicle thievery, which is at least tangentially related (that's actually more of a Set problem than a Horus one, but Horus is involved). Linking queerness to disability, and also picking the most marginalised group of people I could possibly think of and linking *that* to queerness and disability. This is to very intentionally subvert any (internalised) ableism in the reading audience.

Using BL tropes that are normally used for the main love interests and turning them upside down, stripping them of romance, and using them on the MC and his abuser (who is NOT the love interest)

So with The Chosen One Con, our MC Max is quite a self-centred character and makes selfish choices. Some people are going to find him unlikable, especially at first! But he gets better. There are reasons for why he is the way he is, and I like exploring his character!

I’m not sure "divided" is the right word but I knew a bunch of decisions I made for "Faux Ho Ho" were born of spite, so. One I knew for sure though was having Silas note that while he’s gay, he’s also cis and white so… he should probably hire more queer historians for his queer history game.
