When guys are like “that’s not rape, all my friends have done that,” that’s exactly what we’re talking about. That’s the problem. Rape is so common and unpunished that a guy could casually reveal all his friends are rapists and not see it as a problem.
It has been criminally underreported but Kelsey Pfendler has just rowed solo across the Pacific Ocean from the US coast to Hawaii in record time. A 2,400-mile unsupported journey in 43 days, 17 hours, and 55 minutes. Notably beating the Men’s record by 9 whole days.
Intimate partner violence and sexual assault usually co-occur. In fact, men who hurt their significant others are among the most likely to commit *all* kinds of violence. The idea that men can mistreat women in private and be trusted in public is absurd.

It’s the domestic violence. It’s the guns. It’s the combination of patriarchy and easy access to guns. Domestic violence is a gun violence issue, and gun violence is a domestic violence issue. We cannot address one without addressing the other.
