In a statement, DoorDash tells me that the council passed the "arbitrary" new fee without holding any hearings. "We have always supported home rule for D.C.," says the company. "But will continue to defend D.C.'s small businesses, local economy, and underserved residents."

I’ve been to this spot in Delft so many times over the years & it continues to inspire. The area around the first woonerf tells a story of people pushing back for slower & safer streets, but it also tells a story of the beauty that comes when you open up places for people. Quiet, calm, and lovely

Yesterday was National Train Day, so here's a map of the Midwest overlaid with France's high-speed rail network. Haters say the US is too big for HSR, but there are many regions perfectly suited for it. A network centered on Chicago could connect Milwaukee, STL, Detroit, Indy... even Nashville!

Don’t be fooled. Removing protected bike lanes along 15th St. near the National Mall doesn’t alleviate congestion – it will cause more of it as accidents increase. It’s yet another effort by the federal government to politicize common-sense safety measures in the District.

New renderings of the new Commanders stadium at RFK again show many parcels of the site will be surface parking before residential/retail construction starts, probably in years after stadium opens. The renderings also show the scale of the two parking decks. They're *big*.

Sad to see it go. Midnight movies here used to be one my favorite things in the world. Louisville really needs to figure out a way to grow and add new residents and businesses to the highlands. The steadfast refusal to change really feels like it has left the highlands a shell of what it used to be.

Never thought I would live to see the day the Metropolitan Branch Trail stretch from Fort Totten to Takoma along Blair Road NW opened, but here we are!

Riding the metro shuttle for a month has left me physically, emotionally, and spiritually damaged.

I do need the record to reflect that no one in DC wants this. No one in DC has asked for this. I live in DC. I work in DC. I go out in DC. I feel safe, I don’t feel threatened by crime. I will feel threatened by Trump’s troops.
