Horror author, goth, gamer, nocturnal tatterdemalion, ornamental hermit, witch, recluse. She/her, KY USA. Wed to a radio fella. The "social" bit of "social media" is really hard for me. https://links.mehitobel.com/go Out now: WRECKS & VIOLETS.

I 100% have not changed a single goddamn thing about how I write here in the age of "AI." I write how I write. If the "AI" writes anything like how I write, it's because it stole from me. I'm gonna use any punctuation I like, and if it looks "AI"ish to you, you can go fuck yourself.

Authors and journalists are doing more first-person (hello 2010s blogging) and embracing "mistakes" in writing to prove they're not chatbots. There's even an “anti-Grammarly" app that leaves in typos and signs off "sent from my iPhone" to create more authenticity: www.wired.com/story/more-t...

deeply annoying that creative breakthroughs don’t come on schedule from direct work but from things like “open-ended conversations with interesting people” and “doing nothing”

Y'all, I got lost on a straight road that I'd lived on for 6 years. GPS is as much of an assistive requirement for me as wearing glasses. Paper maps, MapQuest printouts with turn by turn instructions, and people giving me directions: none of those helped me even a little bit.

Can’t lie, the fact that y’all were driving with PAPER maps is insane. Even worse, you had to ask random strangers for directions??

I have this idea for a game show called Less Online, where the more online spouse/partner tries to explain something to their less online partner and they are racing against another couple to see who gets it first. (this morning I tried to explain the grink to my husband)

One of the up sides to Sadie being Quite Aged and Pretty Deaf is that she can't hear the fireworks this year. However, literally as I was typing that, Brisco stress-peed a river on my office floor.

Watched a vid and the audio seemed sus. We were like, is this a real man? But I decided he'd just overdubbed his audio b/c he had cat hair on his shirt and I doubt AI is good at persistent cat hair. We're all gonna have to be covered in cat hair to prove we aren't fake. Support your local rescue.

Finally got to see Obsession. Dug it. However, it took me 4 hours to watch and I had to rewind a bunch of whispered parts because our Sadiedog had a bad stomach and barked to go outside six hundred and forty two times. Maybe I should have braved a theater after all?

My parents didn't listen to music, how fucked up is that? They just had no interest. At one point Mom got pretty hard into Mannheim Steamroller for the holidays but I was long out of the house by then. My dad liked "Manic Monday" by the Bangles, and that is the only song ever, as far as I know.

what's the music your parents played all the time when you were a kid? for me, it's a dead heat between Neil Diamond and Linda Ronstadt

I'm trying to learn to do ornamental (native) gardening/landscaping and I have all these grand ideas and then I go out there and it's hot and there's dirt everywhere and did you know there are just spiders that walk all over nature? Just on the ground etc? All over the place? Reconsidering it all.

Cyberpunk 2077 is my whole identity* right now. I finished the dlc and turned around and started another playthrough the next day. I've got 2 different score LPs and bought the PC edition off ebay w/no game code just to get the score CDs. I'm considering a tattoo. *also gardening

Widow Bay, which I'm loving, reminded me that I haven't watched Jim Cummings try his best not to come completely apart in a while. Think I'll fire up Wolf of Snow Hollow today.
