I am saddened by the recent passing of Jeffrey Sloychuk, a dedicated Alberta NDP community organizer. His impact on our movement is immeasurable and I thank him sincerely for all for his work raising funds for relief efforts in Ukraine. Our thoughts are with his family and all those who knew him.

Carney vows to fast-track West Coast Pipeline before entire West Coast burns to the ground
I love writing Danielle Smith so much because I truly believe this is what she would say if she thought she could get away with it.
The UCP changed their Covid vaccine policies last year and the result was an absolute mess so, once again, it's walking back another decision that turned into a disaster. #abpoli www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
Pharmacists preparing to give out free COVID shots to high-risk Albertans again this fall | CBC News

This is ONE of many situations where Albertans' lives are upended because of the UCP’s reckless decision to add #citizenship markers on Alberta IDs. The UCP Gov should be ashamed of themselves for forcing seniors to face the stress of losing their driver's license & #healthcare. #ableg #abpoli
What is this government offering as relief? A 60 day grace period, when this process could take up to 18 months. And "an undisclosed fee" for those families scrambling to save their loved ones healthcare, while they wait for documents to be shipped... www.ctvnews.ca/edmonton/art...
Rollout of new licence, ID requirements a headache for some senior Albertans
The rollout of Alberta’s new three-in-one driver’s licences comes with additional documentation requirements some seniors in the province may need to spend some time digging up.

His daughter called the Premier's office for help. She was told this was a federal immigration issue, and that if it dragged on, it would "eventually" affect her father's healthcare. That's it. That's the answer a 90-year-old Albertan and his family got.
His family went before an Alberta judge, decades ago, and were granted citizenship. He has voted here. Paid taxes here. Collected his pension here. None of that mattered at the counter.
He doesn't have a passport. He's 90. He doesn't travel anymore. His birth certificate is from a country he left 70 years ago, as a child, on a work visa with his mother.
His daughter went to renew his Alberta ID. She brought his 1953 Canadian citizenship certificate, issued the year he arrived here as a child. She was told it wasn't good enough. Only passports or birth certificates would do.
A constituent of mine is 90 years old. He's wheelchair bound. He lives in a care facility. He has called Alberta home for over 70 years. He gave this province his taxes, his vote, his whole life. Now the UCP is putting his healthcare at risk.

The UCP are a bad boss. Turns out their decision to force Albertans to put their citizen status & healthcare on their drivers license or ID is creating huge delays. And those delays are costing registries money. Just one more way the UCP are making life harder for Albertans. #abpoli

For those who asked for my borscht “recipe” — here is one I posted last summer. Not a recipe so much as a play by play!
I don’t have a recipe so it’s a bit different every time. First I parboil scrubbed, unpeeled beets with garlic cloves and peppercorns. I then let the beets cool, and rub the peels off. I drain and reserve the stock.
