I am an author, musician, pet owner, problem-solver, pagan, con-runner, and progressive queer nerd in St Paul, MN. She/Her There will be everything from cats to social justice here and profanity aplenty. You have been warned! 💜🩶🖤 https://clantoren.com/

So according to our air filter app, the indoor air quality is shit, but the outdoor quality is temu apocalypse. Awesome. Me and my Covid-damaged asthmatic lungs will be over here having a nice old time. Stay safe everyone!

Screenshot of an Air Quality meter from an app. The range starts at 12am this morning and goes until now. The bottom line showing the indoor air quality was blue (very good) until turning green around 2pm (still okay), then orange at 6pm (not great), and red (bad) since 8pm. The gray line above it reflects the outdoor air which vacillated between fair and poor until 6pm and then took off like a rocket to the moon straight up to hellish infinity.

Anybody else in the Twin Cities metro without electricity right now? Anybody know why? I started to ask "anybody without power?" But that's a loaded question and I do not have the energy to be philosophical about it right now.

THIS!!-->>> I had this EXACT reaction! Why is it so easy for the Feds to charge for #Stalking when someone follows someone in a car, nothing else other than maybe some curse words said but a victim of repeated domestic violence & real stalking can't even get law enforcement to take a report!

It is impossibly hard to get an indictment for stalking when the stalker is an abusive ex. It makes my blood boil that the DOJ indicted Minnesotans for observing ICE as a form of stalking. These laws do not protect us. But they can be weaponized against us.

I had stuff to do today and now I mostly want to curl up, turn off every device, and nap until it all goes away. Which is what they want us to feel. It's okay to be exhausted and dispirited. It's okay to just cope. We all heal these wounds in our own time. Then we get up and fight again tomorrow

I think this is true, and I know we will prevail, but GODS DAMNIT we should not have to live with this rage and fear. I had not missed the choking weight of it all. Everyone be kind to yourself today and be very safe. Shout if you need help -- we're in this together to the end.

What's starting in Minneapolis today is going to be just like the Broadview 6 case. A desperate attempt at a show trial pursued by dumb, vicious prosecutors performing for an audience of one. An attempt to discourage and scare people from fighting back. It's not going to work.

Don't be this person. Don't. If you fuck around and kid like this, you are doing harm punching down to trans, nonbinary, gender fluid, and many other people. Pronouns are not user pics. They are not cute online names. They are IDENTITY. RESPECT THEM.

Fellow cis people: Making up “cutesy” pronouns for yourself is literally making a game and a joke out of people’s identities. It’s so fucking disrespectful and dismissive. Take pronouns seriously.

Shout-out to everyone whose first instinct in a time of weather, traffic, or unrest is to head to the Twin Cities Bluesky for updates, commentary, and commiseration. These are my people!

Welp, this was a fun way to find out one of our bedroom windows doesn't seat right in the sill anymore. At least I got it to latch a little more. Otherwise I was looking for ways to hold it in so I could go back to bed. Leaning a desk chair was my top option. Weather adventures are less fun at 3am

I think this is a big part of why I've been struggling to write lately. I have 2 WIPs and both involve an antagonist who is too much like the assholes enshittifying the world. I'm TIRED of selfish, cruel, powerful people causing harm and it makes me tired even to write about kicking their butts.

I am so stressed out by the world situation & the horrors of the Trump administration that I am contemplating writing a 600 page epic to be called THE TRANQUILIAD. It will be set in a cozy forest glen with a babbling brook and friendly animals, and nothing bad will happen for the entire 600 pages.

Spy Game I watched this movie in an actual college class on espionage because of the accuracy of how it portrayed agency culture/politics, recruitment of assets, etc. The class was taught by a former NSA agent who "spent time" with the CIA so that tells you how good it is. Runner up: SpyXFamily

Spy X Family: Intense Glare

Alt: Spy X Family: Intense Glare A blond man wearing a trench coat and hat turns slowly, his eyes wide. You can sense his utter dread as if his soul is about to flee his body in panicked despair

Name your fav spy movie (that isn’t James Bond or Mission: Impossible).

This is my wreath for midsummer. I change the wreath every 6 weeks, centered on the wheel of the year. So this is the wreath for the 3 weeks before and after the equinox. Represents the full glory of the sun in summer. I'm really proud of this one!

A wreath hanging on a white door from a red ribbon. The wreath is primarily bright yellow forsythia with springs of pink-red, white, and goldenrod colored clusters.

Little known fact - I love to make wreaths. Often I get one pre-made from the clearance rack (RIP JoAnn Fabrics) and fix it up with other bits and blooms until I'm happy with it. It's a really different form of art and I get to see it every day! I hang 9 in sequence throughout the year. The newest:

Picture of a wreath of silk flowers hanging on a white door. The flowers are brightly colored pansies, irises, daffodils, and other bits along with clusters of Queen Anne's lace and some dangling fronds. The wreath is suspended on the door by a bright red ribbon.

If you want to know why so many people are AI skeptics it's because things that used to work like Google Advanced Search went all-in on AI and now do not fucking work. IT DOES NOT FUCKING WORK ANYMORE
