got texts from craig, klobuchar, and some crypto poll within 30 min. trying to squeeze some money out of people before abdul el-sayed wins tonight and deflates the energy
Happy Ray Bradbury’s “There Will Come Soft Rains” Day to all! Celebrate by letting your roomba continue to clean while you, yourself, dissolve into dust.
8 or 10 bikes, depending on how you want to count. The surface lot here has about 82 stalls in it, and of course there's a multi-level garage next door. The pain of finding bike parking definitely limits the ability to gain mode share at a time when it's desperately needed
Packed bike parking at 50th and France Lunds. Majority are probably kid's bikes. A good reminder that when we build quality bike infrastructure we are improving youth autonomy!
My name is Ali Daniels. I took the photo of Liam Ramos, and the PAC North Star Dawn is using that photo in paid advertisement to spread lies about Peggy Flanagan. They do not have my consent to use the image, and I am prepared to take legal action if it is not taken down. @angiecraigmn.bsky.social
I might have found the most inaccessible bike racks in Minneapolis, across the street from Wedge co-op on Lyndale, in the entry to the parking garage next to the "Walgreens"/urban tails/clown glass. I had to lift my bike nearly two feet. No other parking nearby on this side of the block either.
just got a PPP poll that (after screening for party) only asked about trump approval, flanagan vs. craig (+favorability), and klobuchar vs. layne (+favorability). i hope we get to see it later this week
guzzlers on this street are always making sociopathic choices (that i have begun reporting to 311)
i rode excalibur on thursday and i definitely thought i was going to die. 10/10
sometimes i am like “should i ride excalibur? it may collapse and i could die” but then i think “but then i would be among the last people to ever ride excalibur” and then i ride excalibur
getting extremely nervous about flanagan vs. craig. i thought flanagan’s missteps (mostly franken-related) were calculated and strategic but i’m starting to think they’re just bad at this and have failed to harness the progressive energy they need to win the race
automobile parking should be an accommodation that is available for people who NEED it (and maybe carpools). organizations and businesses should generally set the expectation that everyone should travel by foot, bike, bus, etc.
i think it should be literally illegal to require someone to have an app to do anything in the real world

thread. minneapolis and saint paul are both fucking this up so bad and it’s so frustrating to see them do proven shit that everyone KNOWS doesn’t work but the mayors are hateful ghouls who were chosen by rich homeowners specifically to refuse to listen to reason
It was inevitable that reactionary centrists would turn against harm reduction and call for a return to mass incarceration
My bike got stolen and the cops did nothing. Guy at Metro Transit lost and found got it back to me.
It’s so funny when people are like “sure you’re an abolitionist now but wait until you’re the victim of a property crime.” Buddy, the most useful thing the police have ever done for property crime is put the form you need to submit to your insurance online.
bus rapid transit isn’t especially rapid when the 2:36 doesn’t come and the 2:46 is five minutes late. pretty un-rapid if u ask me
“stay the fuck away from my trans friends, they obviously deserve human rights and easy transitions, anyway let’s talk about affordability” is an extremely easy message that has been successful in many places and the only reason democrats don’t use it is because they are transphobes themselves
I really struggle with what I think optimal messaging from a Dem running statewide in, say Iowa, Texas or Ohio is on this. Beshear one model, obviously.
omg i got frustrated and hopped on a lime scooter and successfully chased down the E Line bus i needed to get to southdale in time 😭😭😭 we did it joe 😭😭😭 (saw MULTIPLE cars parked in the bus-only lane on 1st ave, fuck them to hell)
the bus-only lane on hennepin needs to extend SO much further east than it currently does

anyway sounds like some DFLers in my parents’ set will probably vote in the R primary in an attempt to oust wesenberg when he’s vulnerable, and godspeed!! i am rooting against all of them (and have personal animus against the kresha crew) but wesenberg is truly a nightmare and should NOT hold office

anyway outgoing rep. kresha (now plagued with a COVID fraud scandal btw, always knew he was a fucking dirtbag) got a big primary challenge in 2024 from a wesenberg ally (he only won by 35 votes) so this is the establishment Rs finally striking back after wesenberg’s surprise primary victory in 2022.

holthaus and lindquist are running as pro-business, standard-issue Republicans. wesenberg and his allies all have internet-cooked brains and are loose cannons, pissing off important R groups like MCCL. (not sure how closely aligned wesenberg and striemer are, but both are very antivax.)

in case you’re interested in minnesota republicans tearing themselves apart, district 10A is facing primaries in both #mnleg races. wesenberg and striemer are republican-endorsed, and the morrison county republicans have censured local Rs who support their opponents (including outgoing rep. kresha)

i officially apologize to the people of st paul for helping to get kaohly her the DFL endorsement when she first ran for state house (in 2018, to replace erin murphy). whoops!!!
The City of St. Paul has hired an outside law firm to investigate sexual harassment allegations against Mayor Kaohly Her, including claims that she directed inappropriate sexual comments toward Police Chief Axel Henry and other city employees.
wasn’t planning on voting early but going to rage vote for Peggy because fuck this noise
update from yvette hoffman, senator hoffman’s wife, on threads today:
senator hoffman has released a new statement regarding angie craig’s actions towards him, released via EMQ’s Facebook: she is so cooked
It’s beyond time for @minneapolismn.gov and MPRB (& associated contractors) to rethink using large trucks for literally everything. If work needs to be done on/near a protected bikeway, let’s use smaller vehicles.
