I'm weirdly upset by Stevens's gracious concession, because it makes her lie from just a few days ago that AES harbors personal animus against Jewish ppl all the more transparent. We should discourage lying to inflame tensions against two targeted religious minorities for personal political gain imo

So the implication here is what, it's not enough for individual Democratic politicians to make the cynical and cruel decision to throw trans people under the bus, but all Democrats everywhere have to; or else Republicans will nationalize the issue by attacking the ones with principles.

Here's a question for @robertdownen.bsky.social I wonder how Islamophobic Texas Republicans will attempt to use Abdul El-Sayed in their attack ads against Talarico and the Democratic Party in general? The same really applies nationwide. It's why establishment Dems solidly backed Stevens.

Winning back the House and Senate but keeping Jeffries and Schumer would be disastrous. Majorities are too important and too transitory to be handed to those losers.

Enjoyed this Esquire feature on the Churchwell brothers. IMO, they are among the last elegantly dressed men in the United States. Notably, neither are "fashion influencers." They are both distinguished cardiologists with great taste and a lifetime relationship with the same tailor.

Universal healthcare is a wildly popular centrist position. It is also a pro business position as it boosts labor market dynamism and removes what for most firms is a non core operation and cost. Asking how it will be paid for in a system as rife w/ inefficiencies as the US sort of misses the point

I'm ready to be persuaded otherwise & don't think it's inevitable, but the instructors I know who frame what they do in terms of critical pedagogy, ungrading, intrinsic motivation etc, essentially let students do minimal work with guaranteed As, and that is what everyone really likes all round.
