i always love when a character’s attraction is indicated by them just describing someone in slightly too much detail. they’ve noticed them just a little too much, even if they don’t describe them as especially beautiful. we the reader can feel them looking too closely

And even if they do change persona after the inevitable happens, there are now sites full of people who have made it their mission to trace people's identities in order to tie them to previous mistakes in their lives.
