On this day in 1994, the Clinton administration's heathcare reform plan was declared "dead" by Congress. Over 30 years later, the US is still the only industrialized country without universal healthcare. This should be a national outrage.

“The President may be brought low this fall not by the Democrats who would crawl over broken glass to defeat him but by the very voters who sent him back to the White House in the first place. Iran, it seems, may finally have done what Jan 6 and all the rest of Trump’s countless misdeeds could not.”

President Trump is deeply unpopular and trapped in an unwon war of his own choosing. A reckoning—one far harsher than was expected, even a few months ago—seems imminent, Susan B. Glasser writes. www.newyorker.com/news/letter-...

Happy National Public Lands Day! 🌅 From the Rio Grande to the top of our mountains, our national parks, and the forest lands and acequias that have sustained our communities for generations, these lands are part of who we are. Public lands are our lands. And we will keep fighting to protect them!

Trump lies: "Oil will come dropping down as soon as Iran gives up, as soon as the war is over, which will be soon. Prices for groceries have come way down for Biden. Almost every price has come way down. And remember one thing -- oil is less expensive now than it was under the Biden administration."

This admin has spent years going after science. It proposed the largest cut in NASA’s history, about a quarter of the agency and half of its science programs. But last month, a groundbreaking telescope left the launch pad anyway. And the story of how it got there is our good news this Sunday.

Just helping with editing here. These bots aren’t sentient. They’re doing what they’re programmed to do. OpenAI, a private company supposedly bound by laws, committed federal crimes.

Tillis: "Folks, this was stupid on stilts ... to have a Russian oligarch who's actually traveled in a delegation to Beijing fund some sort of island wedding for a very wealthy family that also happens to be related to the president? Come on, guys, this is this is amateur hour"

This Day in Labor History: September 27, 1972. Workers represented by the United Auto Workers at the General Motors plant Norwood in Norwood, Ohio, ended their strike after 174 days. Let's talk how workers fought the horrors of automation and the speed-up in American auto!

Trump and Republicans are terrified of policies that curb their own wealth and power, and the wealth and power of the oligarchs that bankroll them. That's why they're amping up the fearmongering about "socialism."

👇🏽Exactly as many warned. Their cruel racist deportations of innocent people aren’t freeing up jobs, they’re hurting the economy. Immigrants are not the problem. Greedy corporate oligarchs — and the politicians they own — are.

Nationwide, it's clear ICE doesn't care about the health of the people they detain. The lack of accountability is unacceptable. At Delaney Hall and other facilities, people are suffering without proper medical care. They deserve so much better – that's what I'm fighting for.

ICE hasn’t paid for detainee medical care since October. Advocates call it the ‘death policy’

ICE owes millions in unpaid bills to hospitals and, in some cases, detainees themselves have been directly billed for care, records show.

Trump's secret police moves to create an enemies list for the White House. The database would have all US voters, their party affiliations and their political preferences. Now for the question: what does any of this have to do with immigration enforcement? www.wired.com/story/ice-pl...

ICE Plans to Pay $5 Million to Create National Voting Database

As part of a broader DHS surge to investigate alleged voter fraud, ICE has announced it plans to pay up to $5 million to create what amounts to a federal voter database.
