On Jan. 11, Gregory Bovino watched as his Border Patrol agents dragged a man out of his car at a St. Paul Speedway, knelt on his back until he lost consciousness, and dragged his limp body into the back of a van. The man's name is Orbin Mauricio Henriquez Serrano and this is his story.
Orbin Mauricio Henriquez Serrano survived a violent arrest in St. Paul. It still haunts him. • Minnesota Reformer
The morning of Jan. 11 began for Orbin Mauricio Henriquez Serrano with an ominous warning: The gas light on his Jeep Cherokee was glowing yellow on the dashboard. He didn’t want to go to work at the r...

State sanctioned and lauded murder. Horrible.
On July 24th, Prisciliano Trejo Ricano, a resident of Durham NC, died after being held for 33 days in an ICE concentration camp in Lumpkin, GA. ICE Gestapo denied him treatment for an aggressive form of leukemia, which ultimately killed him. He arrived in the US as a toddler. He was my neighbor.
I mostly just find this odd as a rhetorical strategy because it seems fairly obvious to me that, however bad I am persuaded that "hypocritically ignore genocides B and C" is as a politics, "consistently ignore genocides A B and C" is straightforwardly more dogshit
Just wondering, where all the “say it’s a genocide” folks have been when it comes to Sudan and Myanmar?
"A concentration camp, in its most basic definition, is a place where a targeted civilian population, not necessarily accused of a crime, is detained and at least some of their basic rights are suspended," writes @jwashing.bsky.social. "That’s precisely what’s happening in the United States today."
Don’t call them ICE detention centers. Call them camps | John Washington
I’ve spent a decade reporting on immigration enforcement. The word ‘camp’ best captures the political function of these facilities

Stephen Miller said just the other day that all asylum claims are "fake." A couple deported from the U.S. to Guatemala were gagged, bound, and shot dead. Their 14-month old found crying next to their mother's body. People like Miller don't care though because this is the point: ethnic cleansing.
Overland couple shot dead in Guatemala after local ICE stop led to deportations
The couple’s 14-month-old daughter was found crying beside her mother’s body in a sugarcane field last week, according to Guatemalan authorities and media.

This is disingenuous drivel. Methodologically, it’s no different than Rufo: rinse and repeat until enough people co-sign to give the impression of truth. Avoid specificity, because it would undermine the entire project

Best thing that Spain has ever done for Latin America.
“This case will expose the scheme that sought to criminalize the Palestine solidarity movement in the US,” said Khalil. “It is about a coordinated, ongoing plot to punish, silence, and intimidate everyone who dares to dissent and speak out for Palestinian liberation. We will hold them accountable.”
New Lawsuit Challenges “Public-Private Conspiracy” Against Palestine Solidarity
Mahmoud Khalil says the suit against US officials and pro-Israel groups is “about far more than what was done to” him.

56 years ago today, the Young Lords took over Lincoln Hospital, demanding better care for their Black and Latino neighbors. It's important to read this alongside patients rights movements and wages for housework because there were *many* such takeovers of clinics and hospitals in this period.
If there’s any justice, Steven Thrasher will win this case. Northwestern should be ashamed.

I wrote about Florida Governor DeSantis' getting rebuked by the 11th Circuit for his tyrannical (and unconstitutional) "Stop WOKE Act." Hopefully, this will serve as a warning to other GOP states (but I doubt it). www.ms.now/opinion/flor...

"The Paraguayan government said in a statement Monday that it “deplores and rejects” the senator’s comments which “in no way represent the position of the Government of the Republic of Paraguay...” for context, the govt is led by the same right wing party that held power during the dictatorship
I can't even fathom this level of idiocy. You call the globally famous Black man a monkey, he responds "Get a load of this racist! LOL!" You then delete the posts on Twitter & demand that HE apologize to YOU for calling you a racist. What???
I’ve often been called hyperbolic for talking about structural racism but our country’s asylum policy is cut-and-paste from Nazi websites.
BREAKING: in June 2026, *every single one* of the 1,062 refugees admitted in the U.S. were white South Africans. In FY 2026, the U.S. has admitted a total of 7,727 white South Africans, three Afghans (back in November), and nobody else. For reference, the U.S. admitted 100,060 refugees in 2024.
