Is tentatively back online. Still vicariously living my dreams of having badass magical powers and destroying evil men through the characters I write. michellemanus.com https://payhip.com/michellemanus

The continued warm reception to this just reminds me it's why I've never been able to write an alphahole love interest--I married a man who has a goal of making me laugh once a day and that's why I write guys like Random who just wants to cook Valkyrie dinner and wishes she'd stop breaking his heart

Been sitting on this until my physical copy arrived, but Fellow Humans, MY HUSBAND COMMISSIONED ME AN EXCLUSIVE WAVERLY STORY FROM @skyladawn.ca FOR OUR ANNIVERSARY. I have never received a better gift. I love it so much. And my husband. He is great also. No one has ever commissioned me art before.

The hardcover of The Horse Girl Mystery by Skyla Dawn Cameron. The cover is reminiscent of early The Black Stallion covers by Walter Farley, and features a horse rearing against a stormy orange sky. A cat is in the lower left corner of the book.

When your brain starts to associate a task or a place or activity with trauma, it just does what it's been designed to do and tries to *stop you from doing that.* We talk about burnout sometimes like it's a moral failure, but it's literally a deep survival mechanism.

Situation was apparently more extensive than we thought. Our podcast also went rogue and is spreading our stories in audio form. We continue to investigate how it managed to escape our sandbox, but suspect that this modern RSS technology is exhibiting signs of awareness. The industry is concerned.

Clarkesworld has recently discovered that their August issue successfully breached containment and gained access to the Internet, where it is presently hacking reader's minds. "Oh no, what will we do? Who knew that stories could be so powerful?" said Neil Clarke, when approached for comment.

This is out now, available globally! Inkwood Books in NJ has signed stock! So does The Head and the Hand in Philly! Any indie bookstore can order you a copy! It's at all the big box stores, too: Amazon, B&N, Walmart, etc. Ask your library! And if you loved it, leave a review (Goodreads, etc)!!

A photo of my poetry collection, offerings, extraordinary gods, between two Crystal balls. One is clear and one is black.

One of my favorite parts of writing is the puzzle-like aspect of "Okay, I have this point or emotion or what have you that I want to convey, but it doesn't fit here in the sentence/paragraph/scene" and getting to look at it until it clicks in your brain and you're like "Oh, THAT'S where it goes."

It is funny that as more people get duped by AI, the response more frequently seems to be to insist that the models are developing godlike intelligence and we all need to be sooo careful when the real lesson is clearly that the human psyche can get absolutely one-shotted by personalized flattery

This month's project update is a lot of "I regret every decision I've ever made" over accidentally writing a novel when it was supposed to be a short story, but there are more exclusive story things coming later this month. Join Patreon and help new books get made!

The quickest way to discover you've formatted your copyright and dedication pages in the wrong order is to meticulously check your epub multiple times, load it to all retailers, double-checking the file each time, THEN, after congratulating yourself on your hard work, open the file again on a whim.
