People need to get a grip. Leopold Aschenbrenner didn’t “crash” the stock market. The S&P 500 is barely off all-time highs. (But yes, some over-leveraged traders got taken out, that’s the way it usually works.)

Caravaggio transplanted into the 2010s would get cancelled for a series of cryptic late night tweets about how he didn't mean to "kill the guy" and then fleeing to Russia where he converted to Orthodoxy and painted icon portraits of Putin as both Constantine and Helen.

caravaggio transplanted to the 90s would have made a foolhardy decision to side with 2pac due to shared combination of artistic pretension and bad attitude and then get gunned down with him

I miss those vintage World Cups, where key matches would overlap London/NYC trading hours, and liquidity would become nonexistent esp. in certain EM bonds. The outrage and complaints from disinterested US traders was brilliant

Geneva, the kind of place where I’ve spotted more Argentine football jerseys this afternoon, than comparable Swiss kit yesterday. (Follow me for more WC commentary, blah blah…)

Podcasts about 90’s pop culture/ britpop hosted by aging UK music journalists are the new grainy black and white WWII documentaries our dads and grandads used to obsess over. Same vibe.

the intensity (and my god, the frequency) of these food trench warfare bouts is extremely using when you consider that availability of everything everywhere has never been greater

Never known to overreact, the Geneva authorities are preparing for the city to become a warzone during the upcoming G7 meeting in Evian (!). Retail shops boarded up, gov offices fortified, and remote working for one week. Oh, and Blixa Bargeld is coming to town
