Christmas has arrived early! The HRRR-based SPC Mesoanalysis, and RRFS North America Domain forecasts postprocessed by the mesoanalysis routines, are on NOMADS! It’s in its parallel evaluation until early October. Then it’ll be operational.
New offerings from SPC. You can check them out on NOMADS. Including, for the first time, our mesoanalysis grids (in netcdf format). We also use our mesoanalysis code to post-process the entire RRFS domain for every forecast hour and every initialization. nomads.ncep.noaa.gov/pub/data/ncc...

Every municipality within the state of California that issues building and grading permits either has to have a certified engineering geologist on staff to peer review reports or hire a consulting engineering geologist to do reviews. I am the latter.
In addition to the new PolarWx tropical cyclone archive, I'm slowly starting to backfill satellite data for past storms (Melissa 2025 shown below) - plus with 4 new default colormaps to choose from: polarwx.com/tropical/#ar...
Proud that Elias Law Group is in this fight in the Supreme Court to protect the voters of Missouri!
NEW: Gerrymandering opponents urged the Supreme Court not to restore a Republican-backed congressional map in Missouri for the midterms, arguing that the “adequate and independent state ground doctrine” renders the case unreviewable by federal courts. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...
Kind use of the term "residents". Most of them have children. From my experience. That's why they hate ChoMos so much. But "residents" is too loose. Call them what they are, "Prisoners".
Possibly the most American news of all time
It remains to be seen how far the east shift can continue - so far Lowell is on track with NHC and most guidance, but the NHC forecast diverges beyond tonight as other models show more of a NE storm motion.
Hudson found the PERFECT log… but forgot to check the den doorway size. 🦫😂 📹: Keeper Matt
I've made these animations showing seasons' timelines as they appeared in real time before, purely in Python - and now they're rendered on the browser for anyone to create and view:
USAF recon finding Lowell slightly weaker but still a major, category 3 hurricane as it moves north. Models have continued to trend a little to the right and the threat for significant wind gusts (perhaps to hurricane force) have increased for Kauai County, particularly at higher elevations.
The NWS had another nationwide comms outage as storms were impacting parts of the country on Sat. While not as impactful as the outage during an early August outbreak, it's another concerning sign. Also: Lowell forecast shifting a bit east toward Kauai. balancedweather.substack.com/p/nws-suffer...
This goes out to my son, who is working hard to get on his feet in this world. Turns 28 Monday. He complained today about, despite all the hours he puts in, he's not getting anywhere. He was in favor of Trump's War. 🤷 youtu.be/GNWw2NFo_ec?...
