software developer, llm hater used to make games, will again one day he/him

at one point in one of the episodes a prank caller actually gets through and poor host Jack Clark has to deal with that live on the air, incredible stuff

An insane video game-related Lost Media find has quietly popped up on YouTube. Two episodes of "Say Powww!", a 1979 game show about video games that only aired in some markets. People in studio and over the phone played Intellivision (!!) games. Predates Starcade!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=29tJ...

It's conspicuous that the question is "how can I diminish this policy to be palatable to the imaginary couple that doesn't support it" and not "how can I change their politics"

Great video essay looking back at A Force More Powerful, a serious game designed to teach nonviolent tactics. I actually own a copy, and back in 2006 I couldn't figure out how to play it. I'm positive nobody outside of its creators ever mastered it. Thank you for your service!

NEW VIDEO: In 2006 a Washington DC based think tank hired future lead designers of Civilization and XCOM to make a strategy game based on a documentary about nonviolent protest. 20 years later I'm here to tell you why. youtu.be/dmL7Ph4Us8o

You can never just move on from this, even after he's gone. Without punishment and ostracism for everyone who has participated in his crime spree over the last 18 months you can forget it- we're all just treading water until the next tyrant

as I've seen friends in technical and other creative backgrounds point out this is also true of programming and art! the internet is overflowing with nice people eagerly giving away information they spent 20 years learning! none of it's gatekept at all that's why AI had so much to steal and resell 🙃

Antony Johnston@antonyjohnston.bsky.social · 2d ago

Seeing complaints online that authors 'gatekeep' information…! Absolute nonsense. There is no industry or craft in the world which is so comprehensively written about, studied, and discussed as fiction writing, and every author I know welcomes new writers who are serious about giving it a go.

"According to the Guidebook and another document obtained from the district via a FOIA request, “CPS AI Access Overview,” CPS is planning to give access to Google's general-purpose AI assistant Gemini to all high school students at the start of the 2026-2027 school year." are you fucking kidding me

Prioritize kids over computers! We’re calling on Chicago School Board candidates to commit to a "Pledge to Protect Human-Centered Education”—22 have signed on so far. Full Pledge, candidates who have committed, and why we must protect human-centered education in CPS: www.ilfps.org/pledge_prote...

So interesting 💭 "Relighting 'Nighthawks' - bit.studio reimagines Edward Hopper's classic artwork, turning the most crucial element, the 'light,' into something you can actually control!" The exhibit is held at the bit.studio gallery on the 3rd floor, Slowcombo building in Samyan, Bangkok. #art

The business of "A.i." is based on a lack of consent. The corporations pushing it don't ask if anyone wants it; they force it on us. They use it to surveil. They offer it to creeps to create nudes of others without permission. It's a business run by creeps with the ethics of creeps.

"A.i." makes money for billionaires and gives c-suite incompetents and private equity goons an excuse to fire people. It doesn't actually help anyone else - it just obligates people to work faster and do a sloppier, shittier, more dehumanizing job.

Good. Right now this only applies to social media, but it's only a matter of time before it applies to products as well. That would mean that any game studio planning to sell in the EU - i.e all of them - would need to disclose their Gen AI use or risk some hefty fines. Bring it on.
