In the light of day, I did not HATE Nolan's Odyssey but I've settled into a comfortable dislike. I disliked it. The dour tone, the alienating structure, the lousy script, the shooting and crying... It did not work for me. However, I agree with the consensus that the Circe episode was sick and nasty.

Isekai as a genre is exploding in popularity because it appeals to a universal desire to get hit by a truck rather than live in the 21st century.

I think what a lot of sci-fi writers who used robots as a censor friendly replacement for marginalized communities in allegories about bigotry hadn’t considered was that the backlash would be more about corporate overreach than being bigoted against the robots themselves.

How much of the puritanical reactions to sex on tv is just being levied by parents who can't keep up with the trendy shows because they can't watch them around their kids and are feeling left out? Ditto teens who aren't allowed to watch R-rated content and pretend like that was their choice.
